One year, four months.Wow it's been awhile since I've been on. I've heard this before, SUGAR IS THE DEVIL!

Recommended Posts

Well I'm finally getting back on track, I was stalled for almost 6 months, yea 6 months just hovering around 230 and not going any where. I needed to kick start again with either different diet or more exercise. Well I have had a hard time with sugar and carb intake and I'm a diabetic 2. I could not kick putting sugar in my coffee, Splenda tastes terrible in it. Well I decided to try the Atkins thing again like I tried several times before my operation with little success. Let me tell you, it is easier now. I don't know if it has to do with the operation but, after a week I do not have a appetite anymore, I think that sugar and heavy carbs was making me crave more. The weight is really melting off again. My exercise is still not that strenuous but I need some muscle tone so I'm gonna hit some weights. If your wondering what I can eat well I can eat a whole sandwich, whole burger, or whole hotdog and still have a tiny bit of room. I wish it were like weeks after the surgery when I could never finish a whole sandwich. Maybe my surgeon made my pouch a little bigger because I wasn't that heavy going in?? I don't know? I'm still taking the Vitamins and the Calcium supps and haven't seen a protien shake since right after the surgery. Im really itching to get to my goal of 199, I haven't seen that since probably 8th grade. Well I hope all is well with my VSG buddies. Take care. And I'll be back.

Congrats on getting back on track Bill. I think pretty much all of us that are over 6months post op know that sometimes it can be a struggle. But you have what it takes to get the job done. I recently fell off the wagons myself, I really does feel good to get back on and see those numbers start heading in the right direction. I look forwarward to more updates from you. Good luck!!

I'm pre-op, going in next week :D but totally agree about the sugar/carb thing. The other million times I've started new diets after 3 days with sugar out of my system the cravings went away. Obviously when I started back on them I craved them more and more.

Good for you for kicking it back in again!

back on track, weight is melting off .

Hey Billy

nice to see B) you on the board again :)

you've been missed!!!! :(

glad you are back on the wagon :)

last time i fell off the wagon, i hurt my back!!!! (ooops took an extra silly pill this morning )

don't think your surgeon made your pouch any bigger - even if you didn't have that much to lose

pretty sure all doc's take out the same range of around 85%

sugar is nasty - carbs too!!!

"I'll be back?" per you

hmmmm

is that a threat or a promise??

hope its the latter ;)

keep up the good job/work

take care

kathy

Hi Billy' date='

Glad to hear your back on track :)

That's my biggest challenge!

Sugar is my downfall too, well I should say that and carbs like bread also. I have a little and I lose all control.[/quote']

I've been on a sugar binge for a few weeks and of course not losing any weight! I wish sugar made me feel as crappy and dairy does! My friend who had the RNY can't touch sugar... I have mixed feeling... A little dumping syndrome would do me some good! 8-)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
