It is an individual thing, but the worst pain I experienced was actually having a lapband!

The surgical pain for the sleeve was nothing compared to the port area where the band was. It was weird feeling too.

Fear that it won't work is legit - but I am a believer that we make our own luck. If you have really thought about this, and really thought why the band didn't work and asked yourself how YOU will do things differently this time - now that you are getting a rocking good tool - you WILL be successful.

I was banded in 2001; removed sept 2011; sleeved Dec 2011.

Now I am half the size I was and am so so so glad I did this!

I love my sleeve.

I was scared too. Had a horrible time and basically only lost because of my throwing up with the band. Eventually my pouch dilated and I gained nearly every pound (80+) back. I haven't lost as quickly as I would have like too (but then again I only lost 30 pounds the first year with my band and I'm already down 36 pounds after 3.5 months), but my experience has been so much more satisfying with the sleeve. I get hungry every few hours, but I am satiated after a few bites of whatever I am eating. I do appear to get dumping-like symptoms after high fat meals, but usually only when I eat out. You can find my story under my posts. I had the band for 3.5 years. I used to say I would still get it because of the weight loss...but after the removal and regain I have changed my mind. So far (knock wood) this has been a great decision for me. Best of luck!

We all scared/nervous/anxious. My revision is in 14 days. But I have to get this band out. There is no choice for me starting to have major complications. If you are not to that point yet I bet you will. The sleeve to me (a everyone says) is a tool. We can do it together!!

Starting my pre-op tomorrow & getting my revision on Tuesday. A little nervous but my Dr. seems confident everything will go OK.

Had my revision done on Monday and I feel great! I had all your fears as well. My doctor found a small hiatal hernia and sewed it up but said my band did little damage, though I only had it in for 16 months. It was so much easier than I thought, no worse than the band surgery. I am off pain meds, walking a lot, and just still blown up with so much gas which I can't pass that I gained weight. You will be fine and look back in a few months so happy with your decision. The band never gave me anything but issues.

I was revised 4/30/13. I had the lap band done 10/24/10 and on 4/30/13 I had the band removed and the sleeve done. I'm still going through fears but this site and my nut has helped me so much. You will always have fears but make sure you have a support system in place. The pain is so much less than the band. You will be up much quicker. Just follow the rules in your discharge plans and you will be fine. I will keep you in my prayers. We are all here for you. You are doing this for a better life. Good luck!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
