If I was to post a rant, it would be about people ranting about others who are probably scared and confused and reaching out wishing and hoping that what is happening to them is normal and that they're not the only one experiencing thier issues asking questions and seeking reassurance on a forum meant for informing them and answering thier questions.

if I was to post a rant that is..

Lets not fail to mention these:

What about swallowing while giving a BJ?

How many of you have feminine moisture problems post op?

Have I forever ruined my chances of eating a complete burger at one time? What about Thanksgiving?

How do I post a pic or update my profile?

I just find this post rude. Everyone has the right to ask whatever questions they want, it doesn't matter if its been posted before, they can still ask.

This place is supposed to be for support. Should people just read what other people have posted and never get involved? That person might not find much support just reading other people's posts compared to if they posted the thread themselves.

Besides if every topic was only posted once there wouldn't be anyone posting anything because its all been said!!

If you see a topic that you already know about or have already read, why don't you just keep scrolling. It doesn't even effect you at all really

There's a reason people ask these questions. Just in case something IS out of the ordinary. For instance, the pain in my left shoulder was NOT gas pain. After a full week of severe pain, and being constantly told it was gas, the surgeon and I discovered it actually was the end of the drain tube poking my diaphragm, causing referred pain. The moment he removed the drain the pain was gone.

Hell.. I can't imagine a doc making me have a drain for a week! That's crazy! Hope you mentioned that when posting about shoulder pain or some would have questioned if that was possibly the problem.

Have you never ranted about anything before? Infact, you are ranting at my ranting...and that's okay by me.

Sorry to have offended...you can share your opinion here, just as I can. It doesn't make me dislike anyone by them asking redundant questions.

Rants can be in good fun... I've had plenty rants directed towards folks like me in different situations, and really it's okay.

No worries, I'm sure this thread will go *poof*...

Haha ranting at you for ranting, that made me laugh. I just don't want newbies to come on and read this post and be afraid to ask questions. When I first got on here I asked everything I wanted and why would I search the forums first? I wanted Answers to my specific problem not someone else's.

Hehe, that's one of the problems with the "Recent Posts" section - there's no filter on it at all, and it's really easy to miss that this post is in a section specifically for ranting. Honestly, I wonder if posts to the Rants and Raves forum should be included in "recent posts" or just left as gems for those who poke around the site and hopefully KNOW they're in this section! I do think that most experienced forum folk (and I'm talking forums in general, not just here) do spend a little time reading the site before jumping in to ask potentially redundant questions just to make sure they understand the forum culture and maybe see where questions like theirs might go in the various sub-forums, but it's not as common with people who don't normally hang out on forums.

I agree, this does get to me, HOWEVER... Sometimes I feel like the search funtion isn't that great. I remember when I was a noob trying to read about the dreaded week three stall and I did find SOME posts, but not a lot. I'm certain there was more on this site about that topic but I was having a hard time uncovering it so I try to be understanding and my week three stall was extreme, it last three weeks for a total of nearly 4 weeks with incredibly minimal weight loss, I can see why that would disturb people as it did me. What I REALLY get sick of are "omg I ate a whole can of soup" (why did you sit down with a whole can of Soup? ) and posts about Hair loss I don't know why those particular posts grate on my nerves so much but they do.

Will I have loose skin' date=' I got 120 lbs to lose :P[/quote']

Hey, the answer is not always yes. It depends on the type of training you do during and after weight loss. For example, I am down 180 lb and only have a little lose skin in from of stomach. No where else. I have a feeling it too will disappear with the right core training. I have been a very active runner / cross fitter which helps. It also depends on a magnitude of other more subtle differences like how much Water you drink, how clean your diet is, what supplementation you take, etc. So no, this is not as stupid a question as it seems.

Furthermore, the search feature is broken on my razor android phone. It will show one page of results. When I tell it to load more threads, it crashes with an error. So no, search cannot even be used in this case.

As per the sticky at the top of this forum, rants specifically created to rant about members of this forum are not permitted, therefore, I am closing this topic.

If you feel a question has been asked a million times, or you are bothered by a question, simply scroll on by. You are not required to respond and there are plenty of others who understand and are willing to help.

Thank you.

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
