Lower BMI Bandsters!

Recommended Posts

I'm here too. I'm on my 5th week post-band and am doing ok. I lost 9 lbs the first 4 weeks but I don't think I will lose anymore until after my first fill on the 28th. I can eat just about anything as long as I take smaller bites and chew well. Anyway, I'm glad to see the lower bmi'ers coming out of the shadows.

Hi all,

I am back after going away for a week to visit my dad in

Arizona. He doesn't know about the band so it was tricky

to eat in front of him.

I have to go weigh myself! I am a slave to the scale. I thought

I had lost a couple lbs on my dad's scale, but then I took

him to the dr. I weighed on his scale right before I left, and then

on the dr. 's scale, and the dr. scale showed what I weigh at

home.

I am getting another fill the first week in Sept. I haven't lost

anything since my last fill. I think I only need slightly more, and

I will be just right.

Well i got my surgery date today, am going in surgery on 08/10/2007 and more than likely will be getting the Sleeve Gastrectomy or VSG.. so please keep talking to me lol... BMI is 35, and surgeon feels that the Sleeve is a better option as is less maintenence and less risk in terms of long term than the band. I put forward either band or VSG option and he recommended the sleeve. So figure he knows more than me so am going with that. Am scared and excited at the same time.

Wow does this mean i am actualy going to be a slim gal and maintain it? How exciting.... Anyway will see how i go eh

The sleev huh...now I have to go and research that. Keep us posted on your progress. My BMI is 36 and I am started to doubt my insurance co will cover me as I am showing no signs of high blood pressure or diabetes. Does your insurance cover this?

Yeah the surgeon told me today that my health insurance wont contribute as my BMI is to low, so is going to be all self pay. Wow $17,000 (NZD) is a lot...

FatBlog.Org - Weight Loss Surgery Forum - Index Here is copy of a website that is very supportive to all surgeries. You might be able to find some people with the sleeve on there. I know that some of them are talking about switching over to it. There is a spot for every surgery and they are a nice group.

I am sure you can still post at lap band talk, but I thought you might want to find some others with your kind of surgery. You should be able to click on

it and it will take you right to the website.

Good luck with your surgery. I know Lap band is slow going for some, especially me.

I;m here Audree! You are looking so great...but get your butt excercising! You can do it! I know it is hard when you are busy but I know you will work it all! Miss you. xoxo Victoria.

Hey Bandiva!!!!

It is always so nice to hear from you!!!

I have been yo yoing for so long. I am back to 165. I need to get my butt exercising to lose the rest of this weight!!! I am really watching what I eat though. I think I may need a little bit more of a fill. I am back to being able to eat pretty good, but I do get stuck if I don't chew. The only exception seems to be at night, I am wide open!!!

How are you doing????

Talking to you always feels like I am talking to an old friend.

Audree

Hi Gang...

I've been gone for a while and even though I rarely comment, I read just about everyday.

I just got my first fill on Monday, back in TJ with handsome Dr. Ortiz!!! I have 2cc's in a 4cc band and I feel great. For the first time since my surgery, I can eat TINY portions and feel full!!! I had a supersmoothie from yoplait and felt full for hours. A fellow bander that got banded the same day as me, is on her THIRD fill...she still has only limited restriction. I hope that doesn't happen to me...

Anyway, thanks for all the comments on here. I'm back on the wagon now. I had a rough time emotionally adjusting to LB and I've been mourning food for the last 2 months. :whoo: I'm OVER it now. :clap2: This is a life changing experience and I'm going for it!!!!!

I've made a decision to become somewhat of a vegetarian...only fish...it's a healthier choice for me and I'm gonna see how it goes...

I ordered the Protein from Welcome to the Unjury Homepage, so thanks to whoever suggested it. My hair has been falling out, because I wasn't eating enough protein. I'll use legumes and that supplement to keep up my intake.

Well, friends, that's all for now. I'm going to sincerely try to figure out how to work this, so I can get a ticker and all that stuff.

Be Blessed,

Stacy

Good to meet ya!!!

I also had my surgery and go for my fills to Dr. Ortiz. Aren't they all te bomb!!!

I had my 3rd fill about a month or so ago,3 cc's in a 4 cc band. I think I need another one though!!

Make sure you chew your fish really well. I had my first pb on fish and it was nasty!!!:faint:

Sounds like you are doing really well!!

Just make sure you stick to the banster rules. I didn't for a while and didn't lose. I am still trying to make myself stick with it, Protein first, then veggies, then maybe some carb.

Also staying away from ice cream and stuff like that.

What level of fill do you have right now?

I have 3 cc in a 4 cc band and I think I need a tad more. I guess the true test will be the scale but I don't weigh in too much, maybe once a week.

I know I need to start working out to get my body into the fat burning mode.

Thanks Denise great site!

You're welcome! They are all very nice and very supportive. I

don't post there very much. They all seem to know each other

very well, and for some reason, I feel a little more comfortable

here.

Audree, I had the worse experience last night that started

with a PB from fish. My daughter works at the hospital, so

I went there to have dinner with her. The fish looked really

good. It ended up being very dry. I thought a little bit of

tarter sauce would help it go down. I had to run to the bathroom

because it got stuck immediately. I thought that was the end of

it. I ended up throwing up for 2 hours at home. No food, just

white foam.(Sorry, too much information):cry But it wouldn't stop. I was really scared. Finally, it stopped. Before bed I had a little bit of herbal tea, and I have been on liquids all day today. That really freaked me out!

I am still getting a fill at the beginning of Sept. I haven't lost anything

since my last fill. :whoo:I think a little bit more and I will be able to start losing again. I hope so.

Oh Denise this sound just aweful~ How are you feeling now? I'm sorry to hear you were in so much discomfort. What did the doc say? Is this a normal reaction if something gets stuck? :cry Then to add insult to injury, are you're really not losing any weight or inches since you were banded in Dec? Atleast I hope at least your clothes fit better? Take care and feel better.

Hi everyone! I got approval from my insurance co (BCBS MESSA in MI) on Friday!!!!!!!!!!!! I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO excited. I am glad for this thread because my only worry is I won't lose much because of my BMI (35-36 depending on the day). I have read many of the pages here and it is very encouraging. Wish me luck ~ I set my date tomorrow and it may be very soon as I am a teacher and had hoped to get this done before school starts!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
