Lower BMI Bandsters!

Recommended Posts

lunch at work is almost always a Lean Cuisine or Smart Ones. I find the ones that come with broccoli instead of rice or Pasta. I eat fat free cottage cheese a lot for a snack.....1/2 c has only 80 calories and 12g Protein (i think it is a perfect snack) I like it with a spoon of sugarfree Orange marmalade stirred in!

Thank You! I have never thought about putting marmalade in cottage cheese. I normally don't like cottage cheese but that sounds good! I love those Lean Cuisine and Smart Ones too and I am thrilled they finally came out with low carb frozen meals. It sounds like I need to up my veggies, too.

Thanks again.

Hello everyone:

I've gotten better with my eating - I'm still on my creamy liquids stage. I had some potatoe Soup w/ garlic and herb sauce. It was very tasty - I only ate the small pieces of potatoes. The larger ones I spit out and gave to the dog.

I read the reason why we shouldn't eat food during this stage and I also read that the damaged doesn't show up right away. I'm not to scared because I made sure that I chewed the food I ate very well and I was drinking when I was eating it.

The reason they don't want us to eat and drink is because the food is so mushy that if you drink also it washes it straight through the stoma in to the stomach and you don't get the full feel.

I did just that ate a little bit then, drunk some Water, ate some more then more water.

I can't afford to be without this band. I have gone back to creamy Soups - I am trying to do right.

One thing that I found for some reason to feel more like a treat during this stage was egg flower Soup. I got really tired of all the creamy Soups I could buy in the store, so I went to a Chinese restaraunt and got a large egg flower soup. I kept what I didn't eat in the fridge and it lasted about 3 days. My doctor told me if it had anything in it besides the broth and the egg, like peas, to spit them out.

You can have drinkable yogurt too. They come in a lot of flavors and taste pretty good. They seemed to keep me full longer.

BGB glad to see you on the board - haven't talked to you since I got banded - I know you had a lot going on. Glad to see your restriction kicked in - I have a follow appt today, I start my "Thicker" liquids today. Although I did cheat last night - My kids made pizzas with crescent rolls, and I actually had some - had no problems eating it either. I don't know if that is good or bad.

I am glad to hear you are doing so well!!!

I have been on less due to the countdown to my step daughters wedding in a week. My father in law is coming tomorrow for the week so I am sure I will have even less time to come here!!:faint:

I miss you guys though!!!

audree, I got 1.7 cc when I went on the 19th. I don't know how they decide the amount since my travel buddy, Cara, got 1.3 cc right after me. I forgot the OCC fill doctor's name but he seems to know what he's doing. I hope I won't need a fill for awhile but he did say that it depends to an extent on how fast you lose the weight. Anyway, I'm slowly losing, about one or two a week if I'm very very good.:-)

His name is Dr. Romero. He gave me 1.2 cc's. He told me to come back in 8 weeks.

I find i am eating a lot less and am not to hungry anymore. But, if I get hungry again and stop losing, I will bug them until they give me anothr one!!

Hi!!!

I was told to stop eating at least 2 hours before bedtime and drink Water during that time to make sure your pouch is cleaned out before you lay down. This happened to me with coffee the other night too. It's weird that this has never happened the whole year I've been banded.Anyways I started myself on Prevacid once a day for a week.I've read too many people post about losing thier band after having episodes of acid reflux.:paranoid

That is scary!!! I will make sure I do that. I was eating maybe like 1 hour before bed and no water before bed.

Thanks for the info!!!!:clap2:

I have now hit 50 lbs lost! Wow, this week has really been IT for me as far as weight loss goes.

According to my scale, I had plateaued. Now I know that the battery was bad, and I was probably losing but the scale wasn't reading it right. So, today I was 146 which puts me at exactly 50 lbs. That is a LOT of weight on a 5' 2" frame!

Oh yeah, someone at work told me that people are REALLY talking about how much weight I have lost. Some are having a hard time believe that I am doing it by dieting and exercising. They think I am taking some drugs or something. I thought it was kind of funny, but I did make sure to let a few people know that I am NOT taking drugs.

Oh yeah, another thing that is really helping in keeping the scale moving, or getting moving again, is that I have really, really upped the exercise. DH and I are training for a half marathon. So, we have added walking for 6 miles 3 days a week to our schedule. It takes us about 97 minutes to walk the whole thing.

So my exercise schedule now looks like this:

Swimming 45- 60 minutes Monday- Saturday (6 days a week about 600 calories a day burned)

Walking about 97 minutes Sunday, Wednesday, Friday (about 450 calories burned)

Pilaties Fridays only about 250 calories burned

Yoga Mondays and Thursdays about 250 calories burned

I am feeling GREAT. Lots of energy most days.

That is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!:clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

I need to get my butt moving, but can't seem to do it!!!

Welp its me again whining like a little baby, my hubby called and they wanna check his shoulder now, guess itll be a lil while longer. It seems I have no sympathy by now lol lets just get this over so I can go to the doc. lol ! I cant wait much longer, of course no one in my whole family wants me to do this. But they dont live in my body and feel like I do. Mom said I spend all the money on my body. I could do alot with that money, makes me feel guilty but I cant get my mind off it, its always on my mind,I wanna see my skinny picture one day. Does anyone feel like I do? Sorry to whine to you all but you are my only support on this decision.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
