Thanks for all the tips. I showed my drivers license pic today to a couple girls at work they were like OMG I didn't see you that big. But know so little made me feel good. I am so happy and scared that it will all come back on. Or ill wake up this was all a dream.

I felt exactly like that about 3 weeks ago! EXACTLY! As time passes and you loose more weight it sinks in :) this surgery is great

Yeah, that's another thing, I'm well over 100 lbs lighter than in my DL photo and it was a terrible pic anyway, yet nobody every doubts its me when I show it at clubs or whatever. I was kinda hoping for somebody to at least do a double take :/

Recently I went clothes shopping after loseing 100 plus pounds 329 to 189 since Oct 30. I went from 5x shirts to large misses and 26/28 pants to large 18/20 pants. But when I look in the mirror I feel like I'm looking at a stranger. Has anyone else felt this? Also I still feel fat. I know I have 60 more to go per Dr but personally about 20 I will be happy but very happy now.

Congratulations on your weight loss. Hey, I am almost 3 years out and some times it still doesn't look like 'me' to me!!! I will still have my husband point out someone when we're out, someone who is my size NOW. It is easier to see the real size when it's somebody else. It is weird, all these head games. I still tend to grab a size to large because loose is how I was so use to wearing my clothes. My jeans are a size 4, some times a 6, depending on the brand. My shirts, a M and dresses are a 6. Those numbers "feel" foreign, surely someone else's??!!!! I thought I'd be happy in a 12, but it happened so quickly, I knew I could go lower. Not only did I get to Dr. Davidson's goal, I ended up setting MY personal goal for 5 lbs less, so I'd have a "pad". Don't under estimate what you can do, it is truly amazing! I am 15 lbs less at age 53, than I was at age 19 when I got married.

I think our train arrives at our destination before we wake up and realize it.

Suggestion:

Find a store with non-crabby staff and preferably in a non-busy time of day. Try on many different types of clothes with different sizes that are in the ballpark of what you think you are. Take your time, look in the mirror, get the picture. Dig the new you.

I've tried on sizes that I knew were too small only to find out that they weren't...now.

I frequently go to the mall, Dillard's is my favorite store.....and just try on clothes. I call it window shopping. I try on cute clothes, just because I can. For all of my life, I either couldn't fit into "CUTE" clothes or didn't have the money to shop often, so I didn't. I also tended to get baggier stuff, because I was 'fat'. Looking back, I was NOT fat, just not comfortable with my size. Later on down the road, I'd have given my right arm to be 'that size' again!!! I highly recommend going shopping, just to play!!!

I think it is more difficult to get the new body image into your head if it seems to you that you were always overweight.

I think that's very true! My youngest son is the heavier child. He's never had a flat belly. My oldest son tends to be lean and lanky, so if he ever starts to gain weight, an extra layer will feel very wrong to him. But with the youngest? It's normal for him...so even though he might wish for it, it's harder because he doesn't really KNOW what it feels like, and would, in fact, feel a bit "abnormal" for a while.

I went from a size 26 to a 12. That felt really small! But at 175, I was still technically overweight...I just couldn't imagine weighing less or being smaller. But after 7 yrs of being smaller, I think my brain has finally caught up. It realizes now that although, yes, I'm not BIG any more, I can definitely stand to lose more. My new goal with the sleeve (surgery on the 14th) will be 155.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
