Just had my last appointment before insurance approval! It's submitted' date=' my bloodwork was excellent according to the nurse and they're going to try to expedite surgery once I get insurance approval (hopefully I can still sneak in for June). I'm starting the pre- surgery diet tomorrow which is high Protein, low carb (20g or less per day). I've said goodbye to my fave foods gradually, losing 25lbs in the process, but I realised I was running out of time to make/eat my favourites and had Swedish pancakes, Indian buffet, Phad Thai and jasmine rice, and a napoleon, grapes, ice cream, etc in the past few days. As I start the diet tomorrow, I was feeling sad thinking "there's so many things I wanted to eat still! It can't be over! I mentioned it to my Mom, and she said that people who are dying often have the same reaction- "there's so many things I wanted to do still...I'm not ready!". I guess there is a similarity there- the old me is dying and a thinner healthier me will be taking my place. I'm terrified and excited at the same time- my first surgery ever.[/quote']

Good luck!!!

My hospital does not allow us to bring heating pads. :( We can have the GasX but I can't find the ones you stick under your tongue, just chewable. I can't believe my surgery is Monday. My stomach is in knots.

Ok guys' date=' I DID IT!!! I have to be honest though yesterday was not fun. Everyone is different and I was hoping to be one the lucky ones and whiz right through but not the case. It took 6 different tries to get my IV in, and coupled with my anxiety, wasn't good. The incision pain I can deal with, but this gas pain is all over my abdomen, shoulders and back. It really does help to walk although it is very painful gritting in and out of bed. I vomited many times yesterday and that hurt so bad. So if you can do anything, try not to, I just couldn't do it. BUT..... Today is much better, I already had to drink the leak dye and I keep telling the nurse I was going to throw it up, but I didn't, I actually kept it down. My heating pad I brought has helped me immensely with my shoulder and back pain so if you have one pack it.! so I'll try and post later and tell you how today goes.[/quote']

Thank you for updating us & giving tips. Glad u r ok, take it easy!

I know I am freaking out! It is almost here. I am so excited, anxious, nervous and scared all at the same time. I think this is the first surgery I am actually having some anxiety about. I cannot wait to be on the other side of this surgery though!!

My biggest fear is the first couple days afterward & I have a 6 year old son and hubby. Like you, can't wait to be on the other side!

Two more days till my surgery. And I'm so nervous, scared anxious and excited. It's so surreal But reading some recent threads of people who just had their sleeve done makes me feel a lot better and more at ease. I'm deep cleaning my house and my bag is packed.

It's taking me two years to get here, and it was not easy let me tell you. But I can almost see the finish line and it feels victorious !!!! And I'm great full to have God's Blessings and ALL of you for support Wish me luck!!!!

I'm not trying to find myself and going to re-invent myself !!!!

Good Luck to ALL :)

Loose clothes to wear home. A small firm pillow to hold against your stomach getting in and out of bed and to put between your stomach and the seatbelt. If your hospital allows it: dissolvable Gas X and a heating pad.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
