Hi Dr. Curry - nice to have you on the forum. I'm getting banded by Dr. Schumacher and I actually called your office first, but you didn't take my insurance. But, I hear excellent things about both of you. Have a nice day

Hi Dr. C!

Happy New year! This is pregnant Vanessa! I was in your office 2 weeks ago for my last unfill with your new (to me) nurse practitioner. Nice lady. Unfill kicked my butt though!

So, I hadn't been on LBT for a while and now that I've been checking back, you're all over the place! I was curious as to why that is.. I know people sure do sing your praises.....that would keep me checkin' in!

Hey Dr C....just a short question please that is if you don't mind. How long do you normally keep your patients who are nurses and work the floor in a hospital off after banding? Thanks for your time. Happy New Year!

Dr C. Sorry if that last posting was confusing. The question I was asking was how long would you keep a floor nurse off of work after being banded. Just sort of need a ball park idea how much work I would have to miss or if I could possibly just miss a few days and then go back. Didnt know if the tugging and pulling etc would be an issue with returning back to my job. Thanks again!

Sorry another blond moment...

I would say a week for a floor nurse, even then though you won't be able to lift a lot.

Vanessa was wanting to know what prompted you to start communicating on the forum. She said she hadn't been on the site for a while and then when she came back, she saw your name all over the place. She was happy to read your posts. She's your patient. Hope that clarifies. I'm not your patient but I am impressed that a doctor is participating - that shows such dedication and concern. Thanks

Ok...now I get it. Wasn't sure if she meant all over the place here or all over the place in Cincinnati. I guess both are true!

No offense meant to any blonds by the way...

Hi Dr. C,

My name is Laura and I also have a lower BMI (5'4, 195lbs.) so I will be paying out of pocket and going out of the states to get my surgery done. Probably Canada, since I am in Ohio it is much closer than Mexico. My main questions are about the bands. I know the Inamed is the only band in the USA that is FDA approved, but have you heard when/if the Swedish band (by Johnson & Johnson) is going to be FDA approved in the US. I have heard the swedish band has less complications, but that was only from one doctors office. If you didn't get the Inamed, is it hard to find a fill doctor in the states with the swedish band or mid-band. HELP...I need good information.

Thanks!

Laura

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
