A Lil Confused..Calling All Experienced Sleevers!

Recommended Posts

I'm only one week post. Do I eat til my sleeve is full or the recommended amount of 2 ozs per meal? What are some telltale signs of a full sleeve?

I made (and still make) they gurgling and croaking sounds similar to what a frog would make. You will also feel physically full up to your throat. I wouldnt go past your recommendations. If you are in doubt, call your doctor. :)

Sit down take 20 min to eat I used to set a timer on my phone. My satisfied feelin is a burp and my hollow feeling goes away.

I would measure out the amount and eat no more. At first your nerve endings may not be fully healed and you may not get a signal that you are full when you really are. Your stomach is really swollen right now, so that limits your early capacity.

I am 4 months out and getting to the point where I know how much I can hold. I do measure out pretty much everything, too, and still don't finish most of the time. I usually push it away before I get too full (the food before me loses its appeal) My sign for eating one bite too many is a "stuck" feeling in my throat. This also happens when I eat too fast. Unfortunately everyone is different and there is no hard and fast textbook full feeling.

Eat measured amounts. Don't test your sleeve for at least 6weeks. Once your staple line is completely healed (6 weeks) you can test your capacity some, but at one week it's just too risky

The 'full up to your throat' feeling is what I get Aline with the froggish croaking and gargling that someone else mentioned. You will def know when you're full. I'll be 6 weeks in a couple of days and my capacity is not much more than it was at 1 week. Just listen to your body and EAT SLOWLY! I have thrown up many a time from eating fast these weeks since surgery.

I agree, for now measure everything! You won't be able to feel the full feeling for a bit still.

Yes measure measure measure, over eating is the worst feeling ever, and you don't wanna do to much with your stomach still healing

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
