Asking for support and prayers

Recommended Posts

My parents are great, great providers and good examples of hard work and making it in this world. I love them very very much. But I don't know how to tell them to stop analyzing everything I eat.

For example, I have up carbs a few weeks back. Last night was my last meal before my two week liquid preop diet. Immediately my mom chimed in when I took some rice.

After dinner, while watching TV with them my dad looks at me and says, well say goodbye to that belly- you won't be fat anymore.

Over and over I wake up in fear that I won't lose much - my mom keeps telling people that in year I will lose 100 lbs. This is also my desire- but I'm stressing out. How do I discuss these things with them, what can I say to them afraid to disappoint them and stay fat or get fatter. I know God is helping me, I just want to be successful and make them proud.

Oh sweetie, I am old enough to be your mother and I know they only mean well. Please tell them how there comments are hurting you, they do not realize. Tell them for you to be successful they must not watch every bite you take. I hope you are having this surgery for yourself and not them. This is a life changing decision.

So whatever is bothering you, make a list, sit them down and go over it. At least it will be all out in the open and maybe they will change their comments.

Best of luck. Show them this post to get started.

maybe next time they make a comment about your weight, take it as an opening to let them know your concerns and fears. Just let them know you will do your best to be healthier.

Don't stress over it, you will be losing weight....just follow your doctor and nutritionist guidelines. We're all here for you!

Explain to them that it is putting pressure on you when they tell folks you will lose 100 lbs. And ditto on what other folks have said.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
