Guys with low T

Recommended Posts

Low testosterone--he should see an endocrinologist to see if he is a candidate for testosterone replacement. Not only is low T a cause for lowered sex drive, it can also predispose men to certain medical conditions. I would talk to him about the no hugging/cuddling/kissing, but maybe he is frustrated about a lowered sex drive and that has subconsciously affected how much he would show you any physical attention? So sorry you are both going through this. Maybe some counseling would be helpful if you would both be open to it. Hang in there. Hopefully some replacement therapy will help.

Gosh, poor guy. I couldn't imagine going through that. It's kind of hard to equate for us women, but I think it would be like getting breast cancer and having your boobs removed (and not being eligible for reconstruction), or being a woman in your child bearing years and having to have a hysterectomy for medical reasons and never being able to give birth ever...

See it from his point of view. In his mind, what makes him a "man", what he uses to show you love and where he gets satisfaction....is giving up on him. He's probably hurt, embarrassed, feels useless and probably somewhat worthless. Of course he's not going to want to be close to you and certainly doesn't want to do other things in the place of actual sex. I know when I feel like crap the last thing I want is my husband all up on me.

"In sickness and in health"...girl, here it is...be with him through this. Talk with him about it, and get rid of your selfishness for the next few months. Find out how you can help him instead of being in the frame of mind of "he won't cuddle me". You will be fine without some huggin', cuddlin', makin' out for a while. Be there for him.

This is the biggest blow to any man's ego and pride...so find ways to lift him up. And ask him how you can help him through this, and assure him that he will get through this. Go to doctor visits with him if he wants. Help him find help and the answers.

I know you are frustrated...but this ain't about you ;) Show him Love...and that don't mean physical touch in any fashion right now. (Are you familiar with the different love languages? Quality Time, Acts of Service, Words of Affirmation, Gifts, Physical Touch)

You getting skinny + his penis not working would be tuff on any man..ha.

Good luck!

Ok so hubs tells me he has low T ... Anyone know anything about this?? Also, does that excuse no hugging/cuddling/kissing/touching?? #frustratedashell

I was diagnosed with it last year. Irritability is one of the symptoms. I was prescribed Axiron which is applied just like underarm deodorant. That didn't work for me so my PCP has me inject myself every other week with Testosterone and that brought my number up. I have more energy now and am less agitated so easily.

Did that make you completely shut down on your wife?? I'm just curious

Ok short answer is yes it can for some men and it's usually not until there are performance issues that we seek out medical help. As a man diagnosed with low t I can tell you that it can affect attitude , emotion , mood , energy , stamina (all kinds) , desire , testosterone is what makes us men and it's level largely determines what kind of man. I started hrt 4 months ago and have never felt better in my life . My ins denied and my dr called and pleaded for me. If you don't get anywhere with ins you can get a prescription and use injectable its not very expensive and to me worth it at any price. Next to sleeve surgery the best medical decision I have ever made!!!

Not so much but that doesn't mean your hubby would have the same symptoms that I did.

I hear what you guys are saying its been an ongoing issue for a while. I'm trying every thing I can to be supportive, encouraging, loving, dedicated, and well at times it feels like I'm fighting an uphill battle because nothing I do is ever right or good enough. :( sucks!!

Things were always functional. Desire fizzled some ,but for me I was unable to concentrate and was having signs of depression; grouchy, lethargy, ect. my dr gave injection while we worked through the insurance issues I felt different the next morning. I have been treated with therapy And meds for about 15 years for depression nothing worked like this ever! Probably had low t all along ,no one tests until sexual symptoms. My total test was 104 it's now running around 800. Whoo hoo.

Hang in there and if he's resistant keep reminding him of the benefits he'll see once he starts treatment (which we're hoping will deliver benefits to you as well!).

Let us know how it goes.

Well he came in yesterday from the docs finally~ he's in the 200's level he has some cream/gel that goes under his pits. I tried to support yesterday by offering to go with him to the docs-- he got po'ed and said I was making fun of him :(!

Thank you for the encouraging words because I just feel like he's not supporting me like a husband should being as I was sleeved on 3/27!

Ill keep my head in the game, but man this is crazy!

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
