Tomorrow is my psych evaluation and I don't know why but I am freaking out. Guess I am afraid something is going to stop me from getting my sleeve... I just want it to be all over with! Just expressing stress I hope everyone is doing good on their journeys.

I was nervous too. The psy eval turned out to be a way to determine if I had realistic expectations about what I'd get out of the surgery. It was more boring than anything else.

The psych eval is just to see if you are sane enough to understand your decision to have wls. I would suggest a few more sessions would be helpful to help you come to terms with you decision to have surgery and deal with your relationship with food. . You don't want to be like some people who had surgery and yet lament about not having their unhealthy lifestyle and being able to eat large quantities of food. It was very helpful to me but that is my opinion which some people don't share. Whatever you decide to do, good luck on your journey.

Spiritstalker - Congrats on "passing" your psych evaluation! I was SO happy and relieved to have it over and done with. :)

BrittNicole - I hope yours went well!

Kelley - My psychologist did most of the talking, but he did ask questions about my family, friends, and what my support system is like; my reasons for wanting bariatric surgery; and whether I had a history of eating disorders or other emotional problems. At the end of our chat, he said that they are mostly looking to make sure that patients fully understand the choice they are making and are capable offering informed consent, and for any history of eating or psychological disorders (a history of mental illness wouldn't rule someone out, he explained, but they would want to be sure that those issues are under control before proceeding). I hope this info helps!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
