Ok, so I knew losing my hair was a side effect of this surgery, but it is really happening to me! I may just lose my mind, I have taken Biotin from the day I had the surgery and I get 100-120 gms of Protein a day. Any other suggestions? I really can't lose my hair, I seriously will lose my mind.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Also take Biotin - 10,000 mg per day. CVS sells a Biotin and collagen Shampoo & conditioner. Also, my hair started falling out about the time my doctor took me from 2 multi-vitamins a day down to 1 Multi-Vitamin a day (which happened to coincide with my 3 month check-up). I upped my multi-vitamin back to 2 per day, and that seems to have helped a little bit. I am still losing, but not as much. Aside from that, I think the only thing you can do is wait it out. I am at 4 months, 12 days and it has been like this for about a month. They say that it usually stops right around 6 months or so...I am hoping....

I am also about 4 1/2 months and started losing lots of hair a couple of weeks ago. I tried to deny it but even my husband noticed, only because he cleans the drains and we have white tile in our bathroom and I have dark red hair. He went online and found an article saying to make sure I was getting enough Iron, zinc and Biotin. The article pretty much said that its inevitable and that it should stop around the 6 month mark. I dont know if have another month and a half of hair left. I started with very thick hair so hopefully that will help it not be as noticable. Good luck and hang in there.

I am a guy, so my response may not carry as much value as hair is pretty short compared to women's hair. My hair shedded quite a bit during month 3 and 6 even though my Protein and Vitamin levels were high. I did not take any biotene. It stopped falling out at month 6 and it is in pretty good shape today (month 9). My hair never fell out by the fist full; rather it fell out 5-10 hairs at a time. It was most noticeable when I would use my IPad. The hairs would pile up on the screen.

My hair just started falling out too (11 weeks post-op). I get plenty of Protein and take Biotin and a multi Vitamin (plus Vit D and B12), which I think may be helping keep the extra loss to a minimum, if that makes sense. I just notice more hair in my brush and shedding during the day, but it's not noticeable on my hairline or anything yet (hopefully never). I have somewhat fine hair but I have a lot of it, so that probably helps. Also, my hair is past my shoulders, and I think when your hair is longer, you notice Hair loss more. At least that's what my hair stylist says. It seems like more is coming out than actually is.

It happened to me at 5mo, by 8 months I am back to normal in thickness.

I too FLIPPED OUT. Here I was feeling all pretty, everyone is complimenting my body as I stand there with my ears showing through my hair.< /p>

I started washing my hair less, brushing it ever so gently & thankfully I had enough to pull it back and clip it.

I suggest not getting your hair colored during this phase. My friend suggested some Redkin Shampoo that thickens the hair, but since this stopped I did not research that. I was not sure I'd this was going to go on for a year or what, Fortunatly it really was just about 2.5 months for me.

Good luck, I am so sorry it is your turn.

Talk to your stylist about options especially cuts that will minimize the appearance of thinness. I have pretty thick hair, so I didn't worry too much. I was proactive in discussing my concerns with my stylist. She recommended Shampoo, but I never tried it. I started washing my hair every other day and didn't color for the first year after surgery. I could have colored my hair, but I didn't want to risk something going wrong that would mess up my hair since it was already in a weakened state. By six months, it quit.

My MIL has naturally thin hair and is currently going through the thinning stages (she had surgery in October). She uses a hair piece to fill in her hair. She bought it at a beauty salon, and she frequently gets compliments about it. She usually pulls her hair back in a bun and then uses the hair piece at the back where the bun is located.

Thank you everyone, I hated to sound vain, but this is my hair!! Freaks me out when I wash it, I try to go three full days before doing that but when you sweat at the gym it's not always an option :-).

Thanks again!!!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
