Moves for butt and back?

Recommended Posts

I want a hard round tush!! Lol

I've googled it and found a few moves bit what are your fave moves? I suck horribly at squats. I do baby bun presses, side lying leg lift, dog kicks. Fire hydrant ain't Happenin' just yet. Lol

What else is there? I'm also pretty sure I'm not doing the dog kicks right because I really don't feel much of a burn.

I have 5 lb dumbells I've been using for a couple back moves but I think they're Way too heavy for me just yet. I can't do very many reps. What are your favorite moves for the back?

Walking lunges, step ups, deadlifts (check Romanian, stiff legged dead lifts and good mornings), just really watch your form. Squats really are best imho, and you don't have to go heavy. Compound moves build better and squats just really round the butt nicely. You can also have your legs like a lunge, then just squat under the bar. But if you don't like squatting, regular lunges probably better

Yup...squats, dead lifts, and lunges for the glutes. Try one legged squats with your non-squatting leg resting on a bench.....very good even without dumbbells. Remember to push from the heals and not the balls of your feet too.

As for lower back, I'll do stiff legged deadlifts....but also supermans and kickbacks to level out the low back extensors or supporting muscles. Always mix it up a bit...best of luck.

I second those recommendations as well. Would just like to add that when I go deep on my squats, I can really feel it my butt for a day or two....so I know it really hit those muscles. On squats, the deeper you go, the more it incorporates your hamstrings and glutes to get you back up. Just start light or with a bar the first few times to get the right technique.

Any Jillian Michaels workouts!!! Any Taebo or kickboxing type workout! Any kettlebell workout! Try CrossFit! There are all kinds of workout out there and on-line. I highly recommend checking out YouTube for ideas. I just found the Spartacus workout on YouTube yesterday (I think it is the Spartucus Workout #8 or something like that.). I wrote down the list of exercises (they are one I do in my bootcamp workouts also) and I'm going to do a few sets while on my walk today - outside, no equipment needed and an intense workout that works everything included butt and back.

Oh just want to add this: If you are uncomfortable with squats due to the bar, you can just hold a dumbbell between your thighs and do them that way. If you turn your toes out and squat while holding a dumbbell between your legs, it will work the inside of your thighs very well. Hold the dumbbell by the end not on the bar going across. You want it to be pointing up and down.

That will at least get you get used to the movement of the squat without putting the added strain on your back. Your form won't be quite as important as with a heavy bar going across your shoulders

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
