Did anyone breakout from allergic reaction?

I had surgery (will type my whole experience later) Wednesday April 10th and got home April 13th. Yesterday morning I had hives all over my chest and parts of my back. I emailed Gaby at dr aceves office today to ask about it and dr campos said it might be from the surgical tape. I was thinking why did I breakout like 3 day slater? Anyone experience this problem?

I did from the tape around my drain site. It itched worse then the incisions :-( I used hyrdocortisone cream for it. I'm 5weeks out and still have skin discoloration from it. Yours sounds a bit worse though I only had the rash around the drain site where the tape was.

Yes. The tape, bandaids, all of it gives me a horrible rash. 5 weeks later its nearly cleared up but I'm still using the cortisone cream.

That sounds more like a reaction to some type of medication. I doubt its from surgical tape. It should be more localized if it were due to tape.

I had plain scar reducing tape on after my breast reduction an after 10 hours wanted to rip my nipples off!! I was so itchy! But I'm generally fine w regular bandaids ...

I think she is totally right. It would be more localized around the site.

It actually cleared up...thinking it has to do with the pollen out here in NC it's horrible. Thanks everyone!!!

On the day after my surgery I had a weird rash on my face, still don't know what causes it, I've had it once at home too so I don't think it's anything from Mexico. It went from my throat up to my forehead but not in the area of the eyes so I had areas of clear skin for about an inch around my eyes and everything else was reddish and bumpy. I looked like some weird panda. It went away on it's own after a few hours, no clue. I did get a horrible rash from the surgical tape too. Even from the bandaid I put on the incision under my bra line. Which is strange because never before have I ever had reactions to surgical tape or bandaids, but in both cases the areas stayed red for weeks and weeks. I forget when it went away but i'm pretty sure it took longer than a month. You could clearly see the outlines of the tapes.
