These vitamins are GROSS!

Recommended Posts

I started taking the chewable vitamins (Opurity orange/berry) and can hardly chew and swallow them now (they're nasty  ) I can't imagine getting them down after the surgery (next wednesday :) ). Oh and they're huge! I've tried liquid Alive  ...no chance! That was REALLY gross. Any suggestions? I really need to order something else soon for next week. Thanks :D

I used to take the Gummy multi-Vitamins but my nutritionist said not to take them in gummy form. Something about they can't produce all the necessary minerals in gummy form so they're left out by the manufacturer. I now take multi-Vitamin MINIS made by Nature Made. They're not super small but better than chewables!

The chewables ARE nasty. I like Bariatric Advantage's Calcium caramel chews. They taste like candy. (They really do!)

I was told by my surgeon that gummy Vitamins are useless to people with sleeves.

Ugh, I tried the opurity too and had to send them back. After eating one was the ONLY time I have thrown up since my sleeve. I found optisource Bariatric at Walgreens and try are very good.

Talk to your doctor and see when you can take capsules. I was cleared to take them as soon as I wanted and I have been taking Bariatric Advantage capsules since one week out. You take six small capsules a day. I can swallow two of them with just my own saliva.. and I just take them throughout the day with my Calcium pills. I can't STAND chewables YUCK.. even as a kid I wouldn't even chew flintstones and insisted on swallowing a "proper" Vitamin. Also usually the swallowable kind generally have more good stuff in it that they can't get into the chewable version due to palatability.

I got them on Amazon for around 40.00 for a three month supply (540 capsules) ALSO, since we're having the sleeve which provides full absorption, my unprofessional opinion is that we probably don't NEED all six pills each day once we're eating a full diet again. I'm planning on cutting down to four pills a day once I start eating more veggies again.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
