So I've been on puréed food since yesterday and its going quite well though tonight I had a veggie mash and I think the consistency was too thick as I have had terrible pains in my left side of my abdomen since eating it. I didn't over eat but I think I need to purée it instead of mash it ( even though I'm told otherwise)!.

Anyway, lesson learnt and try again tomorrow.

I might just add too that the hunger pangs aren't as bad through this phase.

I am still in full liquid but yesterday I made mash potato and eat a tiny piece and went down well. I want it to eat more but I was afraid so I stop. I am not hungry at all I am pretty much eating because I know I have to.

Did your nutritionist advise you to stay on it for two weeks or three? Mine advised me 3 but it's already killing me! Every post about the stages and the articles I read all say 2 weeks full liquid so I'm seriously contemplating cutting mine down to 2....?? Idk tho I'm torn because I also feel like I need to do what the doctors say!

My surgeon also has a 3 week liquid post-op before allowing soft foods, but I talked to him yesterday and asked if he would be willing to allow me to move to smooth purée after 2 weeks and he said yes...I would encourage you to check with your doctor prior to deciding to craft your own post op plan...is hard, I know, since so many on here have doctors that follow what appears to be a more lenient plan...but ESPECIALLY as our bodies are healing, we need to ask permission instead of forgiveness :-)

So here is what mine looks like:

1 week Clear liquids

2 weeks full liquids

1 week puree

Then onto soft foods!

My full liquid diet is for two weeks. So I am starting my 3 stage on may 21. I believe some doctors suggest 3 weeks but it depents on how you are doing and feeling. Your body will tell you if is time or not. Trust yourself. And if you can call your nut and let her know.

Thanks everyone, that's all very helpful. I suppose I will do the right thing and check with the doctor before I change my post op diet plan. It's just kinda embarrassing already asking for shortcuts. I almost feel like if I can't handle these first few stages how am I gonna act the rest of my life ?!

I am understand you it gets boring is not about being so much hungry, but about feeling your are actually eating something. Dont get frustrated I guess thats why we are hear sharing because we are not perfect and we need support from someone who is going thru the same dilema. This is good thats why joing this forum because if I talk to my husband about it he always says well you want it this. Dont mind me he is very supportive but I guess he gets bored of me talking about not being able to eat like before.

Today is the first day of my pre-op liquid diet and OMG! This is not going to be fun:( I'm not hungry, but these shakes are making me gag. I can't even drink a whole one - and these are the shakes I usually like! It's probably all in my head, just wanting what I can't have. I'm thankful I only have 1 week of this, most have 2. So I'm going to stop whining now and suck it UP!

I'm also really getting nervous about my surgery (5/22). I've been on this journey since Sept. 2012 and it's finally happening. Seems surreal!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
