BIG FAT PEOPLE!

Recommended Posts

Im definetly an addict. I eat things i dont even particularly care for if thats all thats available. There are certain things i can absolutely not have in my house. Cookies crackers bacon cream cheese to name a few. I am also a carb junkie which was proved by weight watchers. I would stay under my points and never lose a pound because i ate all my points on carbs. I get sleeved next Monday i pray this is the tool that finally allows my win this war.

There have been some studies that demonstrate the hormonal benefits to WLS. We all talk about the gherlin hormone but that's not the only hormone affected and hunger isn't the only thing affected by gherlin. I had a link to a great study where they basically did VSG on mice to study the hormonal effects and it was very interesting. Can't find it at the moment.

Suffice it to say that there is something to the theory of "metabolic reset" immediately after WLS, doctors just aren't 100% sure how it works, but observational data keeps demonstrating it. For example, look how many diabetics are able to give up insulin treatments almost immediately after surgery....before the massive weight is lost and the blood glucose systems have had time to correct themselves.

I agree with the idea of a metabolic reset. However, bypass surgery is the best option for diabetics because it seems the gut has a big role in insulin resistance, and bypassing a portion of it is what makes those patients able to stop taking insulin so shortly after surgery. People with diabetes who get the sleeve can get the same results, but it happens over time, with weight loss.

This has nothing to do with this thread but I am posting in here because I think I have reached my limit of bullshit posts the last several days, and the denial comment was spot on!!! If I see one more post of "I ate what I want, it is okay if you do" and they have lost 90 pounds in 3 months, or the "I don't know why I am fat, I ate healthy", or the "I don't exercise and I lost 100 pounds in 2 months", I MAY JUST PUNCH A b***h!!!!

/rant off

phew that felt good..carry on..nothing to see here :)

From what I have researched and seen, people with diabetes are taken off their insulin rather quickly. Some studies have indicated that within 5 years, an individual may get diabetes. But not many, What I do know is that if we are gastric bypass, the sleeve, or lap band, we can still gain our weight back by reverting to old eating patterns of foods high in sugar, fat, and salt. And that is the main ingredients in restaurant foods that are served to us. This is a good reminder as to why I need to cook for myself and keep my foods clean. I need this reminder quite often just to stay focused. I love to be catered too..LOL :)

Thank you I needed that.

The thing that makes me want to punch someone around here is when I hear someone say they ate a cupcake or drank a chocolate shake and it broke their stall. First of all....correlation does not equal causation. Secondly, many a cupcake has been eaten without weight being lost. In fact, it's usually gained. So you ate a cupcake and the next day you lost 2 pounds....doesn't mean it was the cupcake. Logic dictates it was not the cupcake. Hell I can lose 2 pounds doing my morning poop.

Yes I agree this is dangerous information to some of us around here it's the perfect example of an enabler for those of us hanging by a thread here in dealing with addictive personalities..

I must admit I've been swayed in the past!

There was a post a month ago about someone eating a package of m&ms then a cupcake during the day and that night licking the frosting off of 11 other donuts and LOST 4 pounds the next day

Haha I meant 11 other cupcakes! See butter now I have donuts on the brain!

Ha.....my fault.

But your fault I have Captain Crunch on the brain. If only they would sprinkle some Captain Crunch on the donuts instead of those nasty little pastel colored plastic sprinkly things (which I believe are secretly colored rabbit turds).

Yes.. Many enablers here don't realize that just because something works (temporarily) doesn't mean it's the right thing to share. The wrong path is not the lifelong path anyone here needs to be guided to.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
