Wow I didn't know you where feeling so bad :(

I do remember the handbag incident though!

This is a good point too. This surgery is the luck of the draw sometimes on how your body will react.

You know Wendy I've never had dumping or sliming and acid..

I do understand the pain when eating' date=' I imagine that being at goal it would be frustrating when you just wanted to eat something!

And I understand not feeling well, it seems to happen to me more and more these days.. Is it the surgery? I don't know. But I feel like more things are breaking down now, it could be age.

I'm sad that you are not doing well.. It's a scary place to be in.

It's all so exciting when you are watching those pounds drop off. You kind of don't worry about the other things going on but now I just feel so bad. I know they say losing weight will extend your life but what the point if you are just sick all the time? I now feel like my body has become this sensitive little kid that I have to carefully nurture when I really just want to live!

I understand that,

I have read and have hoped that people a year out "feel" better, but see this is something I have no experience with! So I don't really know,

I have told myself this will al be worth it once I get to goal...

Yes I am very serious !!! I am sick of being in agony every time I eat' date=' I am sick of the slimes, I am sick of the dumping, I am sick of heartburn and reflux, I am sick of feeling like s h i t ! I love being slim but not sure it's worth it.[/quote']

I feel the exact same way. The pain from eating, the very painful kidney stones, the acid reflux just wont give. All the medications Im on now, I wasnt on meds before. I guess we cant go back just something we have to deal and live with.

OMG! That's not good.. :( I know my blood tests came up wonky and I'm having problems with my parathyroid glands leaching Calcium from my bones, I had a scan at the hospital a few weeks back and still no answers so they want me to see another doctor but I haven't called yet because I feel like its some bizarre wild goose chase..

Surgery related? I don't know?

But I know the kidney stones are definitely a thing we see around here on the boards a lot !

Maybe there's more of us out there who feel this way' date=' but are laying low because we feel like the failures![/quote']

Alex had a poll a couple of weeks ago about if you could, would you do it again.. Lots of fighting by the way (go figure)

But the one thing I learned and said twice over there is there needs to be a sub forum here for regrets not just immediate complications or the what the f**k did I do first couple of days bullshit but regrets for whatever reason! It is important for someone that is here thinking about wanting this surgery!

This surgery has been lauded as the latest and greatest thing, but it's relatively new and I am really afraid of the long term effects now. No-one knows what they are. We really are like the guinea pigs for future generations. I hope long term it's good, but who knows really?

True.. I mean this surgery has been performed for many years for things like stomach cancer or ulcers that do not respond to other treatments,

But it's use for weight loss is relatively new..

And I might be years before we really learn more,

I mean look at the lap band!

For myself? I truly must believe that it will get better because I was well on my way to an early death before it.

SH!#LESS! :o

For once, I must say, me too....

I think that's why sometimes people get up in arms about people with extremely low bmi's wanting to do this. There are risks.

Some have said not to worry about Protein while others say it's important two weeks out.

I know that this was just an illustration in your longer post, but protein is SO important, including during the first 2 weeks! It helps you heal and get stronger and my surgeon wrote in our pre-op pack that the biggest reason for Hair loss later on is not getting enough protein during the first 2 weeks. What the RD might say is to focus on Fluid first and then protein those first few days/week, because you definitely don't want to dehyrdate. But you can get them both in, and at first the Water requirements are 48 oz, or 64 oz or more if you can tolerate it. The Liquid Protein, especially if thinned out, should be do-able during those first weeks.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
