I am seeing such amazing results in a lot sleevers who post here. I've actually been in awe while looking at some before and after photos! We love to see these so keep posting them!

The most dramatic and inspiring stories are those with > 100 pounds to lose. It's really quite amazing. However I was wondering about those who have a little less?

I'm estimating that I have about 80 pounds to lose. When I first started a year ago it was more like 130! I've been fortunate to be able to get around 50 pounds off before in the last year while I was considering surgery.

Tell me what your experiences have been with a BMI < 40! (My current BMI is about 39 now)

My BMI was 39 when I had surgery. I have lost over 80lbs in 5 months. Just over 20lbs to go :) If I was you I wouldnt worry about rate of loss though! Your body pretty much dictates how much and when.

Thanks! I'm not so much worried about the rate. It's just that I'm 5,9 and have a large build. My suggested ideal weight is 150-175. I have never ever been lower than 200 (and maybe 220!) in my adult life so I have no idea what to shoot for. I'm saying 175 and going from there.

Back in the day I was 5'10 and weighed 175 and that's my goal now too. I wasn't heavy but had a nice shape and it looked good on my build. I did have a little tummy so I could have lost some of that but I say shoot for 175 and see how you feel at that point you can always adjust from there and drop more. Good luck!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
