How do you know when to stop?

Recommended Posts

I am one week out and I am not experiencing any discomfort when drinking liquids but I am afraid I may be drinking too much.

I can only eat about 2oz of yogurt, pudding or Jello and a few spoons of Tomato Soup but when I drink Water or protien my stomach never feels empty.

What signals do you have that tell you to stop eating or drinking I may be ignoring them.

Runny nose. Hiccups. I sneeze about six or more times in a row and get the hiccups.

I felt exactly the same in the beginning. But now just over two months out and can tell when I am getting full. It just takes time. I never figured it out in the liquid stage though. It will be easier on solids because you can feel them better

Hiccups and sometimes it will feel like someone is pressing on my chest really hard. I wish I could drink Water without issue. I get so thirsty sometimes but I can only sip water down.

Huge burp usually, also runny nose and occasional sneezing. Very funny actually!

If I mistakenly eat too much or too fast I get hiccups or chest pain. I try to measure everything so I don't eat more than I should. That wa I can keep track of things too. At first, you learn by trial and error..it's just hurts sometimes ;)

liquids usually I can drink allot When mystomach feels heavy I stop. When I eat solid food I get a real full feeling when I swallow the last bite I can. It takes time to figure out but you will get it eventually.

I was going to say the same thing. In the beginning there are the burps, the hiccups, the runny nose if you get close to full. And then the pain if you eat past that. After a while, you finally get a 6th sense to just know before the triggers even kick in. However, you do need to listen and take notes in order to develop and be aware of the sense.

Is there something wrong with me? I feel full like normal. Like when I was full before surgery! Am I not suppose to feel that??

Fyre, probably. But not with your full sensation. I love your humor. Normal people can never come up with something witty so quickly.

I get the hiccups, runny nose and sometimes the liquid seems to stay right in my throat causing cheat discomfort and a desire to spit up. But I'm still only on full liquids and I can tell by discomfort that I have had enough for a while. I have a hard enough time drinking my portion shakes and Water, so I don t actually eat much of anything because it doesn't sound appealing. Nor do I feel hungry.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
