You rock OU!!! I didn't get on the scale because I have been stuck at the same weight for 3 weeks! I didn't want to depress myself on Christmas with the same numbers again. So I decided to wait a few days and see if the scale moves. I did behave myself on Christmas. I didn't overdo it. It is such a wonderful feeling to NOT be miserable after a holiday meal. I'm hoping to get back to walking again this week. This last week was the longest I've gone without exercising. But the outside weather made it impossible, so now that the ice and snow are cleared off the street, I've got to get going again.

Thanks Marz. I know what you mean about not being miserable. It was nice when all the meals were over and everone one else was complaining they ate too much and felt miserable and stuffed. I felt very comfortable and satisfied. Its a great feeling. I haven't exercised in about 3 months since I lost my last job that had a fitness center. For Christmas, my brother gave me a Visa gift card to sign up for one. I went to LA Fitness this morning and got all set up and plan on starting tomorrow. Wish me well!

Hello Maysters! It sounds like everyone had a wonderful Christmas. So did I! I got my dream gift (50 in plasma tv) and a few other things I love. I had the whole family except my oldest DD and her family, at home and we had a nice dinner. I didn't go all out for Christmas because I had to work the three days before --- not much time to do any baking and such.

But since I have a hard time eating it anyway, I didn't miss it.

My youngest son did something pretty amazing.....at least for a 15 yr old. He was acolyte at church on Sunday night - it was the children's mass - and noticed that not many people were being very generous with the offering (being acolyte, he passes the collection plate around) So he took $20 out of the hard earned $50 that he got for watching his brother's cats while the were on vacation and put it in the plate. I thought, "well, he's finally learning and how generous!" It made my Christmas for me.

Well, I've been bouncing between 205 and 203. Can't seem to get back on the losing track. Maybe with the holidays almost over, things will start looking "down".

Everyone have a great week!

I hope you all had a Wonderful Christmas!

I'm with you Drews.. back to work today and not happy about it!

Wow everyone, we are doing sooo great!!!

Good luck Drews on the testing, what an exciting process!

Myra - congrats on the teeth!

Duckie- sounds like you've raised a caring, generous young man, congrats! Oh, and congrats on the plasma too!

Ous- You rock! Keep up the awesome work!

Well..... I weighed 229 on Christmas Eve which puts me just below my Christmas goal of 230!! ANNND I now weigh less than both of my older brothers! I haven't weighed less than them since birth, literally!! I am so excited!!!

Also, a couple of NSVs.. my brother bought me a coat for Christmas in a Extra Large, and it fit!!! I can zip it and everything!! Also, I did a little shopping for myself a couple of days before Christmas and I bought one of those cute little wrap style dresses in a size 16 ( in the Missy's Department)!!! I haven't worn a 16 since probably Junior high school! I haven't ventured outside the Plus Size or Womans World Department my entire adult life! It is a stretchy material, and I will need to lose about 20 lbs more to be comfortable with the way it looks, but I love it! It is brown with red and white stripes. I almost cried in the dressing room when I was able to wear it.

Life is good! I love my band! I can't believe all the compliments that I received from family and freinds over the Christmas holiday! I'm even more inspired to reach my goal now!!

So what is our next weight Challenge? I'm thinking about setting a goal for Valentines Day (a single girl like me's most despised "holiday"). That's it -15 lbs by Valentines day! That will put me around 215. Anyone else interested in a Valentines Day Challenge?

Again, I hope everyone's Christmas was merry and please have a safe and Fun New Years eve!

Count me in on a Valentine's Day challenge!! I would like to see 199 by Feb 14th. That means I will need to lose 21 pounds in 7 weeks. Can I do it?? I dunno but I sure want to try! I FINALLY have awesome restriction... in fact, I have lost 3 pounds in the past week and couldn't be happier. I plan on hitting the gym again starting next week and also giving up my cigarettes as well. I am determined to be as close to my goal of 170 as possible before I get pregnant. It doesn't seem so far away now! I cannot believe I have lost almost 60 pounds! I can't help but wonder where I would be right now if I hadn't had my 3 month weight loss stall (and gain!) with my leaky port. Hmmmm....

Hope everyone is doing well (sounds like you are!) and I will start a new thread for January next week! Wow... we have been together for 8 months now! Awesome! I love you guys!

Peace.

Marci - I am jealous of the TV! What a great gift! And your son. I hope my son turns out to be a young man like yours.

Drews - I have the post Christmas blahs too. I normally take this week off work and I wasn't able to get it off this year. It sucks! We aren't doing anything fun for New Years either so I don't have anything fun to look forward too. You are rockin on the weightloss ever since you had your leaky port replaced! Good luck with giving up cigs. We will support you any way we can.

Kim - Great NSV with the clothes! You are rockin your band too!

I'll do a Valentines day Challenge as well. I want to hit 173ish by the "I have a Dream" on 1/15 so that will give me an extra 4 weeks. I will say 167ish by V-day. Hopefully that puts me on target to hit 140 by my dreaded 30th b-day on 5/21. I've got to get my butt back in gear with drinking Water and exercising. I have been horrible lately and need all the butt kicking from you guys I can get!

Drews - are you in another blizzard again? My mom just told me my sis is getting a ton of more snow. She is outside of Denver, in Aurora.

Alicia.. I actually work almost in Aurora. It is snowing like crazy here and has been since yesterday afternoon. I had to work late last night and be back super early so my company got a few of us hotel rooms a few blocks from work. Thank god I didn't have to get up at 4am this morning!

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
