Massive appetite little restriction

Recommended Posts

Just to confirm ... you do NOT drink 15 minutes prior to eating, while you're eating or for half an hour AFTER you eat?

When you eat, you start with LEAN Protein first. And again, not processed out of a box kind of thing with breading or any other junk?

You are chewing well and wait in between bites evaluating how you feel, putting your utensil down after each bite?

NOT eating chips and all the other gunk we used to eat?

Yeah I don't drink before or after. Maybe a sip to get something dry down. I go from starving to full to starving after some time passes. I assume my stomach is emptying quickly. I never get head hunger. Because my real hunger is still here. I would like to get an X-ray and post it to compare just to make sure it was done correctly.

At 5 weeks out, what are you eating that is dry? What does your day look like, food-wise?

Mostly chicken. Turkey. Protein Shakes. Soup. And today only I had TV dinners. Low carbs. Steak and rice. And baked chicken. I also eat fruit. I drink tea and Water seperately.

I'm just eating what I consider a lot. The whole helping. I never have leftover. I can do 2 legs and a breast. Black eyed peas. For example. I don't get that sense of fullness. Til really late in. I purposely eat slow and chew. I just had some chicken salad 10 minutes ago. I'm still full as of now.

WOW! Hmmm ... I don't know what to say except I am absolutely amazed that you are able to eat steak 5 weeks out? Actually ... it should be causing you a great deal of pain ... and you have pain, right? And this was on your approved list at 5 weeks out? And eating a breast of chicken 5 weeks out? I think I might know the source of your pain ... you have this pain and you go back to eating the same foods again? Uh, I think you may be dealing with some head hunger, here. There is no way you should be eating these foods 5 weeks out. Laura (or anyone else), am I off based here?

Another thing ... TV dinners ... ditch them. No more of those. Oye.

I don't think you are off base.. Part of my food addiction was eating until it was painful and when the pain went away I was "hungry" again and would eat some more. Constantly trying to "fill the hole" :( I still deal with overcoming this at four months its a day by day thing...

Sad but true...

Yes frozen dinners not good! Just designed to make you want more I don't care who makes them healthy choice, Atkins they are all the same!

not off base-- all your advise has been spot on. I couldn't do chicken and beef until 8-10 weeks....

I boil a chicken (whole) every week... Cheap moist not salty... I shred the meat off the bones and use it all week for dishes.

That's I start my chicken Soup. I could make you some of the best and healthy chicken soup you have ever had! Just sayin.....Don't even get me started on my red sauce. Starts with tomatoes and loads of veggies! Ugh...need to spend the day in the kitchen....it's my therapy!

Oh, yeah, boiling a chicken is sooo good and soooo healthy! You know exactly what you are getting....So my original point was supposed to be, yes! Take Laura's advice!

I wouldn't base anything on your hunger level. The mind is a pretty tricky thing. But I am surprised you are able to eat the kinds of foods you are able to without pain at even 6 weeks.

I would talk to your PCP about getting an endoscopy or get a referral to a gastrointernist to have one done.

I know it is hard to fight that hunger gorilla. It used to scream in my ear. I hated it and is one of the reasons I had the surgery. I am sorry to hear it is screaming in your ear, still, but try to fight it. Continue to follow the guidelines rigorously. It may just take some time. Be sure to eat well balanced meals and avoid drinking with your meals. Just stop.

Talk to your PCP or your surgeon and see if you can get scoped.

BTW, I tried beef at about 12 weeks and couldn't do more than one bite it was so uncomfortable. 6 months I tried again and was fine.

I wish I would of had your surgeon. Lol. But at this point I'm going to do everything I can to get answers. My doctor ordered the wrong scans. That's why I didn't have them. I will see him soon.

I was sitting here trying to remember my six week mark... Then I realized oh easy memory! We were at Disneyland.

I got hungry but it was more like my body would feel weak and shaky, not stomach growing and rumbling, now when we walked past the sweet shops could I have eaten them? Hell yeah! I had to chose not too.. At that point I was still drinking shakes and soft food like hummus and deli type meats .

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
