Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum

Good Sunday morning to you too, Lap Dancer! I loved everything you wrote about food. I sort of pigged out too a couple of weeks ago. :think ( I hate the word binge, I don't know why, but that is what it is.) Goodness I hurt. I had truly wished I would have just gotten sick and gotten it over with. But I didn't. I suffered for like 3 hours. (well, suffer is a bit of a strong word) So at least I have the reminder of that and if I do get out of control, I'll pay for it for a while. Hopefully this next fill will put me to a better place of eating less also. I can still eat quite a bit before I'm uncomfortable. I know I'm not supposed to do that, so I hope it helps. You may not need another fill for a while (you asked that a couple of posts ago). Everyone is different. You may get to a really good place on your first fill. Wouldn't that be great? But if you gotta come back........it's another reason to get together!!! I have no idea of good hotels in Aurora. I bet if you call the office and ask Marilyn, she would point you in the right direction.

Mal! You've actually had some pretty good luck lately! You didn't know how bad your mouth would be, but you got it taken care of. Didn't think you could afford both, but you did. Didn't know if the infection would push banding back, but it didn't. Had the threat of something truly wrong with your band, but it was fine! Sounds like your ready for your jackpot and possibly you need a lotto ticket too!

Michelle, how great that your club has yoga and meditation. Tea ceremonies? I've never heard of that. You'll have to share more on Wed! Also, something just came to me, Angie is in California this week isn't she? That's why she couldn't come and perhaps why she hasn't posted?

Have a great Sunday, All!

I have my second fill this afternoon, and I think that I am getting nervous, again. Who knows why? I hope that I don't get too much. I'm still losing some weight so I hope that I don't get too tight and unable to eat the healthier foods. I guess that if I do, I'll just get some taken out later. I've seen so many posts that say they can't eat chicken or salad or certain fruits and veggies. I wonder why those people don't have a small unfill done? My family is really starting to do well with these healthier foods and I just don't want to have to do shakes and soft foods. I can do most foods now without problems. bread, pretzels, fries, tater tots, Pasta, they seem to give me a bit of an issue, which is okay because they are not exactly good for you. My little guys are making better choices too. If I ask them if they want chips, fruit or yogurt with their sandwich, they usually choose fruit and never choose chips. (lordy I wish I felt that way!) Anywho, thanks for listening, and I'm probably worrying for no reason. It's getting cloudy. Hope that I don't have to drive in the rain all the way to Denver!:nervous

Anita,

Have a safe trip into town today. Wow, you are going in for your second fill. I am excited and really nervous about my first. I haven't had any problems with eating anything and of course my appetite is growing and growing! The feeling of being restricted is going to be so weird for me. I have to wait until July 2nd.

Have a great day!

Thanks, Mal. You have to wait until July 2? Wholly cow you will be in Bandster Hell a long time. I guess that if you were banded the 18th, the 18th of June he'll be in Africa...so I guess they did get you in quickly after he gets back. That still seems like a long time to be hungry! :welldoneclap:

Hi girls!!

I am doing great! The knee is healing and I'm getting around pretty well. I pulled something in it last night trying to wrestle my dog into his kennel so it's pretty swollen today but PT tonight should help with that.

I am looking forward to seeing you girls on Wednesday!!!

Howdy all!

I went for my Monday weigh in and I had lost 1/4 pound. That is after 10 days, so I called the office and I am going in on Friday for a second fill. I didn't have much of one the first time. I agree Woofay - it is a little nerve racking when you don't want to be too tight, but not too open either. I also joined calorie King to log my food. I think I have been somewhat indulgent, but not really bad. I exercised today and realized i had kind of lazy last week. Only went to the gym three times. My life is pretty sedentary since my kids are older, I'm retired and my hobbies are reading, sewing and painting.

Now, I am not down on myself, just facing the music and getting real here. The tea ceremony and yoga was at another place, not at my gym, but they do have yoga (without the tea and cookies) there.

I went to Co. Springs and thought about you Anita. I saw my son, who is going to UCCS. My mother and I took him to Olive Garden. Then to American Furniture Warehouse where I bought him a table and chairs, because I didn't see anything I liked for me and they were having a good sale, and I am a generous mother........ So he's very happy and lucky.

Here is the Red Robin address. You can use mapquest to find the best way for each of you.

Red Robin America's Gourmet Burgers and Spirits - Greenwood Vlg ...

Address:. 8585 E Arapahoe Rd Greenwood Vlg, CO 80112. Phone: (303) 771-3350 ... Red Robin is a GREAT place for burgers and sandwiches! ...

Who is coming? Drews, Woofay, Lap Dancer, Mal, anyone else? See you there at 7 pm.

Hugs and have a great day everyone,

Michelle

Howdy, All! Well, I'm back from my second fill. He gave me another 1cc so now I'm filled to 2.9 cc. This time was really different. The needle went strait in, no poking or prodding, he was where he wanted to be in about 5 seconds. No sonogram needed or anything. This time was virtually painless. I sat up differently this time, and I think (I hope!) that it felt a little different. Who knows. It's a little hard to tell when you don't really know what your trying to feel. This time he pulled the needle out while I was sitting up, so it didn't feel so weird coming out. That creeped me out last time. We'll see how this fill goes.

Michelle~ Congrats on your loss and getting another fill date. Yeah! It's funny how you were down here today, and I was up there! I drove by Arapahoe exit off I25. I think that I can get there easily. It's actually closer than the Dr. office.

See you at 7!

Woofay - I'm sooooo happy that your fill went well. I am going to stand up this time (Drews - hint) and I think that will give me a truer reading. I only got .9 so I imagine I could use more. I also am bucking up to be more honest about my intake. I joined www.calorieking.com and am tracking my food and exercise. Once I get it down it will be wonderful. The program does all the work for you. It was a wonderful day today.

Drews - so glad you are feeling chipper. It helps to not be in pain and want to move. See you Wednesday!

Hugs - Woofay, Drews, Lap Dancer, Mal, me.....! on Wednesday at 7. Anyone else?

Hi! Just had to post again. I just went to buy some new pants as these are looking pretty shabby, and they were two sizes smaller. :clap2: I thought that I was going to start crying right there in the mall. I can't remember the last time I needed a smaller size. I had to share it with you as it has surprisingly left me a bit emotional. I'm such a baby.:)

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
