Would You Have Weight Loss Surgery Again?

  1. 1. Knowing what you know now about weight loss surgery, would you do it again if you had the chance to make your decision again?

    • Yes, without a doubt! The surgery has been everything I’d hoped for.

    • Yes, probably. The journey hasn’t been easy, but I’m losing weight and feel that this was my best option.

    • Yes, but I would have chosen a different type of weight loss surgery.

    • No. I’ve had complications and my health has suffered and/or I haven’t been hitting my weight loss goals.

    • I haven’t had the surgery yet, but I’m looking at the results of this poll carefully to help me make my decision!

I am four weeks out, and right now I regret my decision. I had the surgery for a better quality and healthy life but I feel that I will never feel "right" again. I feel like everything gets stuck in my chest (like a pill that went down the wrong way). I hope it gets better and hope I will be happy with my decision in a month from now.

Give it some time. I felt pretty awful until about 6 weeks, and not really normal until 8 weeks. Now I feel amazing! (I am about 12 weeks post-op.)

I was skeptical for about the first month post-op because if how I felt (headaches' date='so thirsty, tired, sore) but now that I'm starting my third month I am very pleased. I would do it again because the initial symptoms I mentioned are about gone and I've lost 47lbs in 9weeks! Yaaaay![/quote']

Congrats

This is making me so scared! I have struggled with my weight for over 20 years. I have sleep apnea, high cholesterol, high triglycerides. I have gained and lost 50lbs or more at least 10 times!

I just pray everything will be okay!

All i wanted was food too,so i thought. I tasted some corn chowder that I pureed and it was not at all what i wanted... crave things i ate in the Low Carb lifestyle that is too early for me to have like meats and vegetables. I cant wait to have some meatloaf!

Hang in there! The first two weeks were the worse for me. After that passed, each week got easier. I'm 9 weeks out and life seems back to normal (minus the food)... I still go through bouts of missing certain things, but nothing that I would consider trading my new tummy for.

I wonder if a notification is sent when someone casts a vote, even if he/she doesn't make a comment?

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
