So...I joined a gym

Recommended Posts

I gave myself a wonderful birthday present this year. Health! I joined a gym. I have my own trainer Bill. He is very motivating and manages to make me feel excited about the scary machines that loom in my future. My husband and I joined on 2/16/13. To date I have lost 8.5 inches!! And most of it...in my stomach. I am really focusing on arms and stomach because the stair stepper, treadmill and eliptical work out my legs and butt. I am down 8 shirt sizes and 6 pant sizes!! Having the sleeve surgery saved my life. I feel like a new person. I have traded my love for food for a love of a healthier ME!! The best part is that I dont worry about the machines to come I am actually ready to take on all the new challenges and beat them!

Congratulations! I just joined yesterday! Cant afford a personal trainer but i go with a friend and she is probably better then a personal trainer. So far so good! I'm a bit sore but i know each day will get better!

Thankfully my trainer is part of the membership! And my husband goes with me! That really helps we push each other. He doesnt need to lose weight he is there to tone up and support me!

The first week is rough...but everytime you go you feel better and better. Congratulations!

So exciting for you!!!! I have a gym membership, just need to make myself go. I am almost 4 weeks out and am returning to work next week. We have a gym there also, so I am hoping that will really get me motivated.

Continue the good work!

Congrats LMZTUDE! I think you'll be glad you did. I don't know what I would do without my de-stress outlet (gym).

Good for you! My mom and her husband joined a local gym and if they stick with it I may do it for myself and my son. It's close to my home and they have a pool - two things in its favor!

It's great that you're going with your husband. Having someone to share the fun with is always a good way to keep on track.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
