Who here has enjoyed the NSV of closet-shopping? I tried on some coats and suits that I had purchased on clearance a while back as "mini-goal" clothes and they fit great! They all still had the tags on them. They were great deals (like an Anne Klein suit coat and a pretty winter coat that makes me glad we still have snow here, actually).

When I bought them, it seemed like just a dream that I might be able to wear them someday. I lost 20 lbs during a 6-month pre-op period and 20 lbs (as of today) since my VSG in early Feb. I am thinking for a couple of the better pieces, when I lose more I might actually get them tailored so I can wear a while longer. Has anyone else done this?

What fun outfits have you found lately in your own closet?

About 8 years ago I bought a blouse at Lane Bryant which was my size at the time (22/24) but always was a tad too tight around the hips to wear... Then I gained more and more weight until it couldn't even fit on me at all.

Yesterday I was looking through a magazine and noticed that lace inlays in shirts is in style this year (ya know the kind of tops you wear a colored camisole under and the lace parts are see through.. but not in a skanky way) Anyway, I remembered this old blouse from years ago and what do you know, it is in style again AND.. is almost too big! I have to wear it quick so I get the chance! I also found a lovely pair of white slacks. Why on earth did I ever buy those? they never fit and they're WHITE... but I tried them on and they fit perfectly and look AWESOME.. It's a bit early for white pants, but I'm going to wear them anyway now before they get too big! I LOVE closet shopping...

I actually just did this today! I am out almost 7 months and over 75 pounds. Today I went through my entire closet and chest of drawers and took out all the things too big for me and found a whole new wardrobe in the process! My maid was excited to get a bunch of new clothes and I was happy that there are only 2 pairs of pants that I have left that do not quite fit me, I wasnt expecting that. It was hard to get rid of all of my bigger clothes though and truth be told, I did stash away a few of my nicer bigger things just in case. I need to explore my feelings about that and just give them away but it was a fun day and my husband even noticed the pants I had on this evening as pants from when I was smaller, he was impressed. I still have about 20 pounds to go and I fear that I wont be able to fit into all this stuff for long but that is a good problem.

Love all the lace inlay stuff this season--great find in your closet...and the price was right! :) The white pants sound great too!

I actually went through my closet this weekend and pulled out everything that was too big. Have started to wear things that were hidden way back in the closet and even some of those are too big. I actually had to go and buy a couple of slacks for work because mine were just to baggy. My husband kept insisting that I buy more clothes but I hate to spend money on things that I hope not to wear for very long. Waiting for vacation in July and will probably buy some things then. It is however an awesome feeling to get rid of the 'big" clothes!

I went through my closet last week and found a nice pair of Jeans. My Dh like them. I decided to shop in my own closet and then purchase a few sexy T shirts etc. As I loose the weight. My style is also changing from drab to Fab.

I am enjoying the feasts of closet shopping. :) I pulled out some slacks that I haven't seen in years. It also let me know that I have too many damn clothes, but thankful nonetheless that I have that problem. :)

I too enjoy closet shopping. Ive had to get rid of the first round of sizes and am now going on the third round as my second round of sizes are getting wayyy too big. I can only cinch up jeans so much before it starts looking like Im wearing a denim sack. Just last night I was telling the hubby that my next goal was these green cargo pants that I loved and this morning I tried them on....they fit!!! So excited.

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
