Something horrible happened last night...

Mom just called me and started sobbing and begging when I told her I wanted to go ahead. I can't deal with this crap!

Just postpone it for a little bit, don't talk about it with them and they will forget about it. Then book again and don't tell anyone when your going lol that's what I would do. Just so you won't have to deal with all that.

I hate to be all sneaky like that, but sometimes no matter what you tell someone, they won't change their minds. We have done the research, they haven't. We know it's safe to go, but they think it's a death sentence. I'm kind of in the same situation you're in, but I've made it clear to all my family that I'm doing it. Nothing will change my mind.

I know this is coming from their concern but this almost seems like emotional blackmail. It seems like its decision making time. Poo or get off the pot. Then you live with your choice.

Just so you know, I have the utmost sympathy for what you're going through and I hope whatever call you make brings you peace.

Will you regret if you don't go?

She asked if I would consider delaying the surgery and seeing a specialist group. She wants me to be throughly evaluated before I get on a plane. I think also, she believes that through diet and exercise I will succeed. I want to compromise but I can't deal with the theatrics.

Yes, I will. However, it is not easy to go against the three most important people in my life. I can always do the surgery later, like over the summer. They want me to exhaust other avenues first and I think I can compromise. I am feeling better about the entire thing actually. It's not a perfect situation, but it is a workable one :)

We all know we can succeed with diets. We all have done it a gazillion times... But what happens after that? We end up fatter and even unhealthier than before. It's a non ending cycle that will eventually kill us or come close to it by making us useless humans.

I know. I am just so emotionally drained. It's hard to see and hear your mother cry like that. I appreciate everyone taking the time to respond. I'm just going to have to put my plans off for a short while. I'll try it her way and when it doesn't work, she can go with me to MX.

Bee, I'm glad you are feeling a little better. It sounds like you know what you need to do. I just hope you don't get the same storm when you plan to go later. I would suggest that you find a buddy who is going at the same time you are, just in case you need some moral support. Your mom might not come around to being supportive until after you do the deed and prove her fears wrong. Hang in there.

BEE. I have followed this all day. The only response I think is worthy of repeating is WAiT and get some balance. Will it be so bad to wait a little. This is causing so much stress for you.

Show them the videos on YouTube of people that have gone to Mexico and the drs there. You just need to educate them all. They just don't understand. However if you change your mind. My dr only charged $9800 total.

Bee, my heart goes out to you, but this thread is disturbing to me. You are getting pressure from your family AND the chat line. I hope you find peace in whatever your decision is. For me, it would be a HUGE red flag if my total support system was pressuring me to WAIT.

If you want to borrow my line, feel free. Here it is: "Oh, don't worry! I picked the dr. with the nicest chickens running around the shack!" ;)

You only have this one life. That's it. I hope you can find the strength to do what makes YOU happy. It's your decision. Everyone else will get over it. You deserve happiness. And if this surgery will help with that, then you deserve it. Big hugs to you.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
