Darcy, you're so close -- next week oughta do it!

Last month I was about to give up my goal of getting to 199 by April 5. I was crawling down the weight charts, able to eat huge portions, and posted a 3-lb. loss over the holidays only because I exercised like mad.

Then I got a new fill on Jan. 21, and what a difference. I can't eat much. I don't really want to, most of the time -- but I sure miss thick juicy rare steak! And, miracle of miracles, I lost 4 lbs. last week. Goodbye, 220s. That 199 goal still seems pretty tough, but if not by April 5 then sometime later in spring, so if all goes well I can start the summer in Onederland for the first time in years.

okay guys, I need help. I weighed myself today and I am up 2lbs. to 220.5 I don't get it. I am definately eating alot less than ever before. I am not really hungry though . I was banded 3 1/2 weeks ago. Could it be I am eating too little and my metabolism is slowing down. I am also really tired and feel abit anemic. I am so disappointed I just don't get it. Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!;)

Zoe... congratulations girl!!!! Focus on what you just lost... enjoy it... roll in it girl!

Amoro... your body is healing and adjusting to a lot of changes... some do not lose any weight during the pre-fill stage so you are ahead of the game! Let your body heal... follow your doc's instructions... get the Protein your body needs and the weight-loss will find you.

Okay today I weighed 190. I am going to do my best not to weigh myself again until next Monday. I have a dr appt tonight and his scale always differs from mine. I'm going by mine though.

Amoro, Darcy is absolutely right. The weeks between your surgery and your first fill are meant for healing. Some people lose weight like crazy during that time -- even if it's just Water weight -- some lose a little, some stay the same, and some (gulp) gain. Yes, it's frustrating when the scale doesn't move or creeps up in the wrong direction, especially if you're not eating much. But please try to remember that any gain is temporary, and you're in this for the long haul. Give your band a break and follow your doctor's instructions on what you can eat and when. Your body will then be ready to start losing fat when you get a fill. Hang in there.

Well it sounds like all of you are doing a really good job. I have heard that you hit plateaus so perhaps that's what's been happening for some of you but you will need to stay on target with the exercise and diet and then it will pick up again. At any rate I sure do have a lot of folks to look up to.

Yay Greg!!!!!!! You are probably building so much muscle with all of that marathon walking... have you taken measurements????? Oh dear... that was a bad question wasn't it. :D

I'm 198 this morning... whew... a little farther away from the 2's... man... I can't believe how scared I am of that... was terrified when I stepped on the scale this morning!

Hope everybody had a fab week!

well, i've been out of touch for a couple of weeks. I think that last weigh in I did was 3 mondays ago. I was 211, i'm 206 today. So I guess thats 5 in three weeks. I'll take that. I have to see a wound specialist this week though because this lousy thing just isn't closing up. It really stinks! Anyway, congrats to all the losers this Valentines Day.

Darcy Fantastic Job!

Betty as well you should be happy a pound is a pound no matter how long it took to lose, it's not a gain and for us that is a victory!

As for me I lost 2.25 lbs this week to make my total loss 80lbs

It has got to be the exercise..going to the gym 3 x's a week is working..its too bad I didnt start the gym sooner then 10 months post op.

Congrats, Greg!!! Think of a pound of butter. It's not so small...

I haven't weighed in a few weeks (don't like scales). I will go for my first fill tomorrow and will be weighed then. I am a little nervous because I haven't done so well controlling my eating, although it has been better than before the band. I am very much looking forward to my first fill and hope I get restriction.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
