Had an endoscopy today

Recommended Posts

But didn't ever talk to the doctor. He's very busy but am still curious as to what the results were. If there was a problem you think he would have come out and spoke to me asap...right?

Hi Ex Girl

Did they even show you any of the Photo's??? What was the reason you had the endo done?

Hey Malice, I'm betting you are on pins and needles waiting to hear something. It's too bad they wouldn't give you a little snippet of information for all the trouble you've gone through! :)

Is there anything different about having the endoscopy than it was pre-band? I've received my notice that it is time to schedule my next endoscopy and I was curious about that.

Thanks,

Jo Ann

I don't care how busy a doc is, I would call him and see what's going on. If nothing more then just to ease ur mind.

An endoscopy is where they push a tube with a tiny camera attached to the end down your throat into your stomach to get a look at it and make sure there are no problems. Usually they put the patient under or use twighlight sedation to do it. Here in Portugal unfortunatly they did it while I was awake.

Thanks for the responses. The endoscopy was my first one, one wasn't required pre-band. It was just the one year mark so an annual check up. It was NOTHING. I went in, they gave me a sedative and the next thing I knew I was perfectly fine waking up in recovery. It is nothing like general anestesia. I could have gone to work right afterwards and even rode 10 miles on a bike today. Yeah I think that I will call the doctor tomorrow if they don't call me.

I doubt he would've told you at that moment. But he should have followed up with you within 48 hours.

Good For you for having and endo at your 1 yr mark, so many bandsters do not have this test and think all is fine with their bands since they have no symptoms. I had an endo and was eroded and had zero symptoms. I hope your results are good ones, I would like ot think that if the results were bad your Dr. wouldtell you right away..so to me NO news is good news. Keep us posted

3 days before being banded I had an endoscopy to look for lesions after a blood test showed I was anemic. Sure enough, found bleeding esophogeal ulcers. The doctor told me right then what the situation was (actually, my wife because I wasn't very conscious at the time). Results? Banding put off until January (at least).

I was told the minute I woke up what my results were. I was still on the table when he told me my results. So yes they will tell you immediately but if not then within the next couple of days for sure. If you have not heard from him by end of today then I would call him first thing in the morning and bug them till you get results.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
