I cant help but feel disappointed :(

So I am 8 mos post op ALMOST. I am 7 mos pregnant. And I understand that this is expected but I can't help but feel sad that I've only lost 2 lbs since the beginning of Feb :( and before people say WELL YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE GOTTEN PREGNANT!!! Let me just make sure you are aware that I had the para guard IUD for birth control and still ended up pregnant. So I am very thankful that my baby is still here with us today at 7 mos. I am a very lucky woman and am very very thankful.

I haven't had the surgery yet, don't have any advice, but I wanted to offer you a hug if you want one. As a woman who got pregnant using two forms of control at once (!), I know that sometimes these things happen. Please hang in there. You'll be better positioned once the baby's born to go for long walks in the summer twilight and get good exercise!

Aww. I love babies... especially when someone else is having them :D

Just think, after the birth, how quickly you will lose once you can do the boot camp for a few days and get back on the journey.

Tell me more about this boot camp! I'm planning to do the pouch test to get back on track as soon as I can after birth.

Sorry ... trying to track all of this and I just want to make sure I get this straight.

Are you disappointed you got pregnant less than 2 months post-op and that has thrown off you weight loss?

Are you disappointed you lost 115 pounds?

You do realize you are going to "lose" a bunch of "weight" when the baby is born ... right?

Did you get sleeved to lose weight or lose fat? Do you consider the baby to be your fat? Do you really think that losing weight while pregnant is a good thing? I would be proud of myself for not losing during pregnancy.

From what I understand, the Drs don't want you getting pregos for several months post-op. The body has enough of a hard time supporting the sleever with the drastic reduction of calories, so to take on a pregnancy so early is really tough.

Disappointed you haven't lost weight since February ...? Really? To be honest, I'm rather proud of you. Good job nourishing your baby.

Also, the pouch test is really for bypass folk as their pouch is made of the fundus which is still a stretchy part of the stomach. When it gets stretched out, the pouch test routine helps to get it back to size. This does not relate to sleevers. We pretty much do the pouch test thingy on a daily basis with our restriction.

Are you planning on breast feeding? Be careful going on a "diet" so soon after giving birth. You are going to be sleep deprived for a while, so be careful not to be nutritionally depleted, too.

I am thankful that I have a healthy baby. But disappointed that it will take me THAT much longer to get the weight off. If you are already at a healthy weight while pregnant then yes, losing weight while pregnant is discouraged. But I began y pregnancy at 330 lbs. My dr has assured me from the beginning that my baby is healthy. There are people in 3rd world countries that weigh 90 lbs and obviously don't get the nutrition they need while pregnant. But they still give birth to 9 lbs babies. It is not a good idea to get pregnant so soon after surgery. And although I am glad for my baby, I wish we could've waited a couple years before gettin pregnant. She wasn't planned and precautions were taken, but she's here anyway. I don't plan on doing the pouch test until I'm done breastfeeding and my dr says its a fine way to jump start my weightloss once I'm done providing milk for my baby.

If you are holding steady and you are in your third trimester, you have lost weight, because you are accumulating mass.

Feed your baby, put nothing in but good healthy foods, and exercize as much as the doctor OK's.

You are going through through alot of changes, and adding a baby is compounding it.

Can I suggest you get with an OBGYN that has had experience in a situation as near to yours as possible, and try and anticipate what you can expect. I do not want to alarm you but the rubber band effect for you once you give birth could be a really signifigant event. I would not focus on calories at all for at least a few months, you need to just get in nutrition. Your mental health and nutritional needs of your fetus are interconnected at this time - and your baby's development and health of your household will be after.

I dont mean to alarm you with this either but a strong sugestion to get with an early development specialist and look into all the congentital issues that are related to pre-conception and first semester nutritional deficiencies and confirm your baby is OK.

I just caught the third world 9lbs babies remark - soooo on my soapbox:

I am saying this because I think it is really irresponsible if a medical professional to use that to reassure you through your pregnancy. I really, truly, hope you did not continue on with restricted calories as a result. There is a reason why Doctors Without Borders is innodated with need to repair cleft pallets and congenital defects - poor nutrition is one of many things.

I am not trying to scare you, but please be very aware that you must eat for this child and not for your weight. fruits and veggies, fruits, and veggies, spinach, kale, eggs, apples, citrus, banannas, fish, nuts and berries - eat your fill, and again, and again. juice them and get your nutrients and Water in at the same time, if you can.

Again, good luck. My husband and I avoided actual intercourse for 4 months after, because even thought we are pretty sure we will never concieve without help, we wanted to be sure it did not happen after surgery. I did not say we did not have a fufilling sex life, just no intercourse. It IS an option, especially with our bodies fluctuation so rapidly. I am disappointed it is not stressed more from the doctors. That was more frustrating than missing food, haha!

The BASICS BOOTCAMP:

For 5 STRICT DAYS I will eat only...

Proteins: Seafoods, Poultry and eggs, Dairies, nuts/seeds including Peanut Butter.

Veggies: Green only.

Fruits: None.

Breads/Cereals/Other Carbs: None.

Fluids: One gallon of Water (128 oz.)

Protein drinks (RTD or Powder).

Avoid: Sugar and Sodium

Once the 5 days are over, I am pretty much over the Sugar Carb Demon. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate carbs! I do need them to live a healthy life and since I workout a lot it is important I have them. However, I need GOOD carbs. Whole grains, fruits, veggies... But I don't need processed sugars. White carbs, in cereals, breads, rice... etc.

Lots will do the 5 day pouch test. http://www.5daypouchtest.com/ Great! To each their own. I personally do not do this. My first reason is because I don't have a pouch. I have a sleeve. The second reason is because for me, this has proven nothing but torture for me. I don't feel like I should have to do that. My personal program works just as good without that side effect. The only reasons I've ever done liquids only is simply from being threatened with my life (post op) or if I'm just feeling sick and to let my Sleevie rest. That's it.

      On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
      Soooo I am coming to a realization
      of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

        Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

        Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

        I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

        I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

        BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

      Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
