Recommended Posts

I haven't even been on here in forever, but as of right now I'm on month 4 out of 6 for my pre op dieting! My last month will be June then it'll get sent off to insurance :) I'm counting the days and I'm beyond excited.

How much are you required to lose and are you close to that goal?

They didn't give me a set amount. I just have to have 6 months of showing I'm trying. I've kinda set myself on like a 30 pound goal. And I'm about 10 pounds away from there.

Oh that's great!. I haven't talked to my doctor yet to start the process. I'm worried that if they give me a amount I won't be able to lose it

My doctor has put me on Phentermine which has helped a lot! And as long as your motivated and never take your eye off the prize 6 months wont be but a little thing. I had a little goof last month where I gained 8 pounds which is why she put me on Phentermine and when I went back this month I had lost that and then some. After my slip up I went out to rue 21 because you can get a cute outfit for 10$ or less on clearance and got 1 outfit of something I want to be able to wear one day, and it seems silly but its helps a lot! A lot of insurances don't put you on a goal, but its always good to have a goal set for yourself helps out the process.

The insurance sets the time it's the doctors that set the weight goal to shrink your liver. Some just make you do a two week liquid diet before surgery other may make you lose weight during the 3-6 month time. I'm hoping I won't have too because I can only maintain my weight. I keep trying to eat small portions but then I'm hungry when I usually not

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
