I'm 8 months out and believe I may be struggling with it. I have a bowel movement once or twice a week, and when I do, I have a horrific stomach ache that starts a an hour before and gets worse as I'm going. It is extremely difficult to go and feels harder than a normal movement. Has anyone encountered this problem and if so what can I do to make it better? A Fiber supplement possibly? I'd like a long-term solution so laxatives and softeners are not what I'm looking for. Or do you think this is something greater than Constipation? Help :/

I have not been sleeved yet but this is one of the things that I worry about. I already have issues with Constipation and tummy aches because of it. I am curious to see what kind of answers you get. Constipation is not fun and can be very uncomfortable.. :( Hope you feel better soon and can find a long term solution....

I am only 7 weeks out and this problem. I countered it with soft veggies. Cook them until soft. Add a little cheese. Too much cheese will bind you up. I also eat drained peaches, pears etc. all soft. Two weeks now and I go daily with ease.

Ex of veggies I eat....broccoli, cauliflower, green Beans, carrots, squash. I also eat su-ripened mixed fruit.......remember to chew chew chew......

For the record I'm down 58 lbs and not having any problems at all.

First of all....drink more water! This helps so much! Only going 1-2 times a week is very unhealthy. The more hydrated you are the easier it is to poop. Also having lots of Water helps your skin stay moist...as well as you to flush fat easier. I wouldn't suggest laxatives...however you can take collace or dss....it doesn't make you go more often, just makes your stool softer. But the best thing to do is drink more water...lol good luck!

Hi!

Yep, Constipation is aain in the ar*e! I've always suffered with it post sleeve is no different.

I put benefibre in my Hot drinks and add flax seeds and chia seeds on top of my food. I have to say this helps and might be worth a try for yo too? Increasing Water, as already mentioned, is also worth trying.

I also se laxatives occassionally.

Good luck!

I would eat prunes everyday, they are a natural laxative and will definitely help. I have suffered with Constipation for years

I had this problem in beginning. Water is heavy, 8.3 pounds per gallon. So sip, sip, sip. It gets better. I can drink 8oz bottle in 5-10 minutes. Bare in mind nothing else fits till it gets outta my stomach.

Be very careful with Fiber supplements....reason they expand. Which once in stomach could cause pain, vomiting and so forth.

I don't go daily since surgery maybe every two to three days. Given how little I take in, I'm not worried. What does your Dr say? To ease the strain during a movement, during the week I try to stay hydrated, eat soft fruits and veggies, mix All bran into my Greek yogurt, and I take Fiberwell gummys.

I haven't talked to my surgeon yet, if the problem continues or gets worse I will see what he says. I wanted to try to ease it on my own first

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
