The pains in your chest may be gas. You should try taking GasX strips and see how you feel after

I cried and cried and cried most of the first week about having the surgery. I wanted to put up my dukes to anyone who pat my back and told me it would get better.

Ohhhh what a difference a few days makes!!! Im only 9 days out and I'm feeling MUCH better. Just walk!!!!!!!!!!

Oh the gas pains. You lean to one side it moves to your shoulder. You lay down it moves to the top of your chest. The more I moved and walked the more it disappeared. Hang in there it does go away.

Did your Dr tell you to take one pill and wait 5-10 minutes before you take another? That's what I did. I also did not have to take my pain meds or stool softner after I came home, so that was 2 pills I eliminted. Just hang in there, it does get better. I had my surgery March 4th and was wondering the same thing that first week, because I had horrible nausea. I now feel GREAT! So don't give up.

WALK WALK WALK.. It's the only way to get rid of the gas. Your chest pains could also be that your intake is being consumed too rapidly or too much. Even if you think you're just sipping, that may be too fast at this time for you. You're still swollen from surgery so you need to adjust things until ou figure things out.

Yes! At 2 days out, I was sipping 1/8 of an ounce at a time and I'd still get some pain. But not as much as with a 1/4 cup!

THANKS EVERYONE ..I'VE BEEN HAVING A LOT OF TROUBLE DEALING WITH THE CONSTANT PAIN. IT IRRITATES ME AND I JUST WANT TO PINCH MYSELF AND WAKE UP THE OLD ME. WELL NOT WITH THE EXTRA POUNDS BUT JUST HAVING THE ABILITY TO EAT WHAT I CRAVE AT THAT TIME.

IM HOPING THIS IS NORMAL BEHAVIOR ...MINDSET. I'VE NEVER HAD TO GO THROUGH THIS BEFORE.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
