swimmom 124 Posted March 23, 2013 I am 6 days post-op. I never had any second thoughts about doing this - until I woke up from the surgery feeling nauseous and sore. That was the first time I thought "remind me why I did this to myself..." I felt like I was going to die. The first two days, I alternated between these thoughts, and feeling great. Now that I am home, I still alternate between "why did I do this" and "I feel great," but the "I feel great" thoughts are beginning to win out - I feel better more than I feel lousy, and it just keeps getting better each day! But it is a learning curve - it hurts when I take too big of a sip of anything, it hurts when I try to drink/eat too fast, and anything high in sugar makes me nauseous. However, I am beginning to look at these things as POSITIVES - this is what will help me lose and keep the weight off in the long run - these are good things, though it can be painful to learn! I think we will get through this and feel like everyone else in a few months - glad we did it!

tammy1970 20 Posted March 23, 2013 Yep, remember that day! My nurse (a post WLS patient) said day 2 is the absolute worse. I remember crying. I am no only 5 day post op and it gets so much easier. I don't usually have those pains unless its first thing in the morning. I could only do broth and room temp liquids for the first 3-4 days. Now I sip G2, Water bottles and my first Protein Shake (today)... All cold. The feelings get better in just a few days.
dand_75 21 Posted March 23, 2013 I sure hope this does get better. I can't tell when I'm full of liquids so I don't drink as much fearing I'll throw up. I hope I can get on here one day and say it was all so worth it to a newbie who is doubting their decision. Would it be wrong to drink regular Gatorade?? I drink nothing but sugar free anyway but I feel the taste might help some.
tammy1970 20 Posted March 23, 2013 Gatorade was way to strong of a taste for me. I hated G2 prior to surgery, now it's perfect. Strong in flavor- where Pre-op it tasted watered down. Weird how tastes do change. I said it would NEVER happen to me.
