Bummer, finally a dreaded stall....

Recommended Posts

Well after being sleeved in November I had managed to keep things trucking a long really well. No typical 3 week stall, good strong weight loss, etc.

Well it's now been 2 weeks since the scale moved. I really can't complain as I am down a lot (over 100lbs) which isn't bad for 4 months out. But I've still got 24lbs to goal and I wanted to get there by my birthday in late May. I know it's still achievable but I really had hoped not to deal with the stalls. Strangely even though I'm 4 months out my sleeve is still pretty tight, I don't think I'm clearing 4 oz per meal, well I know I'm not. Diet is about the same it was 6 or 8 weeks ago when I was still losing pretty rapidly.

Honestly I went into this figuring if I even lost 60lbs I would be happy, and I'm well past that. I feel good and look pretty good where I am now, but after cruising along thinking I'm almost to goal it's mildly frustrating.

I guess I too have been lucky.. have not hit a stall yet... im post op since dec 20.. and wow good for you on your wt loss.. wish mine was that much.. but then again..we all go at our own rate.. I can eat just about 1 cup of food.. depends on what it is.. some I cant.. like walnuts..cant eat many of them at all.. but Im doing great.. best of luck on your stall. .dont worry it will start back up again.. its just your body making some adjustments.. and you will be on your way. :)

You are doing exceptionally well to lose 100 lb in 4 months. And no stalls!! As you have probably read, stalls are inevitable and cannot be reliably "broken." Most of us mere mortals constantly struggle with stalls starting at week 3. Bloody every month. Sometime 1/2 the month is a stall while the other 1/2 is a losing period.

However, there are a few things you can try:

1. Drink liters of Water. Yes, you will be pissing every 30 minutes but it will flush toxins out.

2. Pump up your exercise routine. Give your body the old shock and awe treatment. Push it out of it's comfort zone!

3. Get extra sleep. Your body repairs itself during sleep. A tired body is a revengeful and greedy body. The extra sleep will also reduce cortisol levels which are known to host parties with fat and toxins around your waist.

Otherwise, sit back and relax. Stalls pass. They have to. Timing might be a little longer then you like. It all works out in the end.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
