My surgery is next Wednesday the 27th and my primary dr called today to say I failed my EKG and I need more testing. They aren't sure if it can be scheduled in time.

Sorry to hear that. I'm scheduled for Monday the 25th. What I'm wondering is I didn't do any preop testing besides a blood test. I just felt like there should have been more? I'm I wrong? I'm in decent health besides being overweight.

I hope they can schedule what they need so you can have your surgery in time!

CarrieP - goodness, they only did a blood test? click on my profile to see all of the testing I had to do pre-op - which I think is pretty standard for bariatrics.

My process has been simple so far. 1 1/2 hour mtg with nutrionist and a psych eval. Then EKG and blood work pre op. I don't even have a pre op diet. I have made soooo many arrangements for my kids. Can't believe it might get rescheduled

Guess I will find out Monday! Just seems kinda odd since I've never even gone under general before.

I'm scheduled for the 27th. :) My pre-admission testing was just blood work, too. However, if I hadn't had an EKG in October, or a Chest x-ray in Dec, I would've had those done last week as well.

Hey sleeve-date-sister! :) crossing fingers & toes for you!! Call tomorrow & bug them. I had to do a stress test & stress echo after my EKG. Did they say why you failed? Or what other tests they're wanting to do?

The good thing about my Surgeon group is that they have a concierge program with the hospital that they're affiliated with and I was able to do EKG, Chest X-Ray, and Psych Eval in about 1 1/2 hours and I was on my way. I guess for some Dr's their pre-op requirements are different. I'm also on the 27th.

I have a cardio halter on for 24 hours and a heart ultra sound on Monday. Hoping the results are in by Tuesday so I can get clearance for surgery Wednesday. Not feeling optimistic. My family keeps saying it might not be meant to be to have my surgery. They do not understand how much mental prep goes into this decision

I know it sucks but better safe than sorry. Trust your doctor to know what he/she is doing. Will keep my fingers crossed for you! :)

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
