Has anyone come across their friends treating them different after losing weight. I have four close friends that haven't said a word to me regarding my weight loss. Sometimes it just means more hearing it from your close friends.

My sister is barely speaking to me since she saw me for first time after surgery. She told my mom years ago that she used to be jealous of me because I was pretty and skinny but now she isn't because I had became so fat. I guess old insecurities are surfacing.

Why can't people be happy for us for getting healthy. So sorry to hear your sister is barely talking to you. Yes, I guess it is insecurities.

Hardly any one said anything to me until I'd lost about 60#. Now people can't stop commenting. I think some people don't want to be offensive and others are unsure. There are several threads about this. We know we're changing but it takes others awhile. I suppose some ppl are jealous. I don't have those ppl in my life so I can't speak to that.

I have a co worker who happens to be a dear friend to. When I finally told her I was going to have this surgery, she just keeped telling me about how her sister had RNY 12 years ago and gained back weight. Well maybe she gained 20 or so lbs back, but not close to what she ever weighed at het highest. I can tell just from listening to her it sounds like jealousy. With me she says she was happy and supports me, but has never mentioned anything to me yet. And I am down 55#! Everyone else I know has said something positive. I hate that some people just can't be happy for you. She is over weight also, so why doesn't she chose to do something about it instead of being unhappy all the time. I just don't get it:)

I haven't had anyone come across in a negative way, but there have been several people who used to never talk to me that are awfully friendly now, haha.

I have lost 73 lbs so far. My family and co-workers always tell me I look great. I went from an 18 to a size 8. My friends were all for me to get the surgery. One friend is probably 400lbs if not more, my other friend is at least 300 lbs. I just don't get it.

I agree, if you are so unhappy, then do something about it. I did, and so glad I did. I am healthy and happy.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
