It's funny ... those who have been sleeved 4+ years don't really hang out here. This site isn't old enough where they were coming here looking for support. My guess is they don't even know we exist here. So, to find a 5+ person ...

Not to say they don't exist, but even the 3+ sleevers are rare to find here, but there are a couple.

FWIW, I'm coming up on 2 years and doing great. Only regret is not being a 5+ sleever!

Thanks for the reply! Glad you're doing great :) my surgery is scheduled for the third week of April and I'm just so curious to speak to someone who's been sleeved for a while. I started getting all these crazy thoughts in my head thinking maybe their lives don't turn out to be too healthy a few years after the surgery.. That's just me being scared and negative!

I think that is just the thing. I can't speak for everyone, but my guess is their lives turn out so great they don't really need a support network ... that is why so many drop off here after some time.

Keep reading and asking questions. PM me if there is a question you don't feel comfortable posting publicly.

I am only 14 months out, sorry - but feel free to ask away if you have questions.

the questions you ask may be accessable through other research - remember this surgery is done for many, many reasons (I myself did not finally agree to the surgery until they found a tumor in my stomach).

Makes sense! I guess I just need to focus on the positive results and stop worrying about every possibility that something bad may happen. Many thanks, will definitely get in touch - appreciate it :)

I had to attend a psychiatry session today to be prepped for the surgery and the doctor did tell me that this procedure was always performed for other health reasons than weight loss - did make me feel better when I heard that. Glad you're doing great :) thanks!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
