Good luck to you. I'm still in pre-op but that was super easy. I had blood work, chest x-ray, spoke to nurse and nut, and had cardiac clearance. Took about 3 hrs total. Almost passed out during blood but that's always my case. Good luck and don't stress about tomorrow :)

I was very scared starting preop too. You are about to become educated on what this is about and if YOU can do it. It is scary having our food taken away cause most use food to some degree as a coping tool.

I almost backed out twice. The first time was me telling my doctor I will go home and try for another year to lose the weight on my own. He said "go ahead, you will be back in two years with another 50 lbs and then you will have comorbidities. The reason we fail on diets is it takes too long to lose the star weight and we become too hungry".

The 2nd time was a week b4 the surgery, I told myself I don't care how many people know I am about to do this, I change my mind and I am not going to do it. Later that day I heard my God, my higher power tell me Yes It is the right decision to do it. Now 7 1/2 months out and 92 lbs gone I AM SO THANKFUL I walked thru my fear & did this. I was ready, 5 yrs earlier I made a decision that I was not ready. I still needed my food and I knew I would gain it back. NOW was/is right for me. Good luck

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
