I'm not really sure if I should post this; for the most part this site is positive and offers great support for those of us that need it.

Many people on this site have made connections and have talked away from the forum. I am definitely one of them.

With a heavy heart I'm sad to announce that someone that has become a great friend in a short amount if time, livesaveremt, passed away Monday. He had his surgery at the end of February. So far, they are saying he had a blood clot (a known complication from the surgery) that traveled up into his heart and lungs.

Fred, you were a great guy and will be missed. You were always a positive support system and a rock to lean on.

God Speed. We'll take it from here.....

While we all know the risks, it doesn't make hearing this type of news any easier. I will be praying for his family during this very difficult time.

May you rest in peace.

So very sad. Thanks for posting this. Yes we all try to be positive but there are risks and complications and the same way we Celebrate the amazing accomplishments, we cannot ignore the bad things that can also happen. Bless his family's heart :'(

This is so heartbreaking. A painful reminder to never discount the risks of such a serious procedure. It breaks my heart to think that the decision to get healthy factored so heavily in his death. We are all here because we are suffering or have suffered the same overweight lives. This loss hits close to home for all of us, whether we knew Fred or not. Praying for God to bring comfort to his family. Rest in paradise, Fred!

So sad!! God Bless Freds family!!!!

Oh wow! Im so sorry to hear that. Praying for his family and other loved ones. Blood clots can definitly happen with any surgery. You just have to stay active, as much as possible. Even when you don't feel up to it. Working in the medical field, we get heart patients up the next day as well as orthopedic patients some the same day as a preventative measure. God bless him..

This is truly heart-breaking. Wishing comfort to his friends and family. One thing we don't know is if the blood clot was a result of the surgery or something that could have happened regardless. A lot of times if someone has atherosclerosis (clogged arteries), this can happen spontaeously. At the same time, I wonder if his doctor had him on Lovenox shots after surgery. My surgeon requires them for 2 weeks for anyone with a BMI of 50 or greater. Again, so very said for this terrible loss, especially at such a young age. I applaud his courage for doing something that was meant to improve his health. Dying from obesity-related complications would be tragic as well.

So sad...I guess you just never know :( Prayers of comfort to all his friends and family

This is sad... my heart goes out to his family. May the Lord be with him family in this difficult time....

Rip in peace!

Rest in peace and my prayers go out to your family. God bless

Rest in peace Fred. Prayers to your family and to anyone you touched.

RIP Fred aka Lifesaveremt!! God bless your family through this difficult time!! Your strength and determination to change your life is and will be an inspiration to us all!! Blood clots are very serious!! They gave me meds for blood clotting and put sleeves around my legs to monitor blood clotting !! May God protect all of us!! Good luck to all sleevers this week and all March post op sleevers!!!

I'm so deeply sad to read this. But there's really only two places to go after life here on earth and that's Heaven or Hell! I pray that Fred is in heaven dining at the Lords table having some Lemon Meriegne Pie! May God Bless his family and friends through this time. My deepest sympathy to them all!
