Hi from South Australia, Im new :)

Recommended Posts

Hi all, just wanted to introduce myself,

Im due to be sleeved on the 20th May, by Dr France in Adelaide, South Australia. I had my lapband removed in November after nearly 7 years. The band worked fine in the beginning, I lost about 35 kilos, but started to suffer severe reflux, then once i had the band deflated to sort that out i could never get good restriction, i could either eat everything or not even get Water down depending on the day. This went on for a couple of years while the reflux returned time and time again...... and I have regained nearly all the weight :(

After reading a number of posts on this forum, Ive realised im nowhere near alone with this experience of the lapband!

When Dr France removed my lapband (he was not the doctor that put it in), he found that my stomach had slipped up through the band and was a lopsided mess...... so im waiting for 6 months for it to hopefully heal and be in good shape for the sleeve in may.

Ive been lurking on this and other sleeve forums for months and have learnt so much already. Thought it was time to introduce myself :)

Wishing everyone luck and health in their sleeve journey.

Good luck in your continuing weight loss journey. I have been on my pre-op Optifast since last Sunday and tomorrow I start clear fluids for 3 days. I am being sleeved by Dr Lopez this coming Wednesday and am looking foward to it but am soooo scared! I fly out to Mexico on Monday evening so it's all go go go! Be glad when I'm on the other side! I am going to Mexico as they have really good experience with large patients and a large number of patients too, plus its really cheap $4,600...and I get to go to the US and Mexico too!

Wishing you all the best,I don't think there are as too many Aussies on this site so it's nice to get someone in the same sort of time zone!

Yes in am an Aussie (Victorian) and joined what I thought was this site 2 years ago, lost all of my login details and had to re apply. The old site looked a lot different than this one and I was sure the site was an Aussie site. The main banners were all pink. Does this site have an australian section. cheers

My bmi was 32 , 167cm tall, 95kgs before pre op fast . Now 2.5 weeks post op 83 kg . Best thing ever but you realise how much socialising revolves around food and drinking ,I'm on purée food atm . Starting thinking healthy choices because you can still eat bad from what I've read .

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
