Yes. Very normal. I crave all the time but not like i used to. I have trained myself to eat very well but if i am really craving something i eat it. You can only take in a few bites anyways. Just dont give in all the time. 1x a week maybe. I was dying for an oatmeal cookie and i had one. Nothing happened. I didnt blow up. Lol. No wt gain. We are human. Do an extra workout if u cheat!

Of course it's normal. What did we do on diets in the last? Crave, cave and fail again. It's just that this time we can't cave.... Yet.

I'm craving an artichoke and I've never even had one.

I've been wanting fish particularly tuna salad and fried fish. Strange thing is that I have never been much of a fish or seafood person.

I went thru a phase were I wanted fried chicken, so I had it a few times & the craving goes away. I only ate a little bit. I'm 14 months out & down 102lbs. I never deprive myself of a craving. I eat healthy & workout daily but if I feel like having something I will.

Early on all I wanted was fish with tartar sauce! Lol I think odd cravings are normal early on after surgery.

I am like this right now with tomatoes & Italian dressing. That's what I'm craving! & a garlic pickle! Can't wait to be able have those things again in moderation! YUM. & it's so odd because pre-op I wouldn't touch tomatoes or Tomato sauce for anything! Now I'd love to have a v8 just to satisfy the craving!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
