Post op instructions are given after the surgery. No Vitamin instructions were given.

I asked about Vitamins and he told me basically if I eat whole foods I shouldn't need vitamins. I thought that was strange as well so I researched what other doctors recommend and I'm taking a multi, sublingual B12 and 1200-1500mg of calcium citrate. I take extra Iron during my period since I have a heavy flow (TMI). There is a food list, it's a 2 month or so eating plan that he gives.

Im on an fb page to for sleevers and just what they say they r doing preop and post op is so different. Most r on two week pre...to help shrink liver...I want to know why Dr. Ponce doesn't do that...plus all say Vitamins and its the ones u mentioned. Oh and some r saying they did 2 week shakes then saled with like chicken...then last 3 days Clear liquids along with laxative also.. where u told to do that?

Im assuming trish will call or email prior to start of 3 day with info...or do I call her?

Thanks for info! :-)

She will call or email all your pre-op info in plenty of time to get you prepared.

My Vitamins consist of chewable Gummy multi and Calcium and daily B 12 shots I get through my PCP

Basically it's just no caffeine one week before surgery, and yogurt only for the 3 days before surgery. Not much more to it than that. No laxatives, no 2 week shakes or anything. I guess Dr Ponce figures 3 days is enough to empty the glycogen reserves in the liver, it works for him. If it makes you feel better you can do low carb now until your 3 day yogurt phase.

Ok so I just found this thread (I'm kind of new to this forum thing)...I posted in another Dr Ponce one before surgery!!! Well here I am on the other side!!! I was sleeved November 25 so today is 10 days post op. I am feeling great! I am back at work and have had no real issues with pain....here is my problem: I have felt so hungry the last couple of days. I am finding it nearly impossible to follow Dr. Ponce's post op diet plan...according to him I should still be on clears for 3 more days! The first couple of days on liquids were ok but now I am just miserable and feeling like I am once again thinking about food ALL the time... "When am I going to get to eat that?" "Man that smells good, I wish I could taste it," etc... Last night when I got home from work I ate some greek yogurt and to my suprise it went down good, a little too good...I probably ate more than the 6 oz I am allowed. I didnt feel any pain or tightness, I probably could have eaten more if I let myself but I was scared I was going to burst my sutures or something. Within an hour of eating the yogurt I felt hungry again an I thought "Oh no, what did I start?" I ended up putting some homemade pinto Beans I served my family in the food processor and pureed them to smooth and again probably ate more than 6 oz with no problems...Is this normal? Aren't I supposed to be able to feel "full" after only a couple of bites at this point? Am I going to mess something up inside me if I am "eating" too much?

Have you been taking your PPI he sent home with you? Also, you sound like you're talking more about head hunger than actual hunger. The sleeve doesn't help head hunger.. Just reality hunger. Work at identifying the difference and drink lots of fluids.

I have not tried the Protein he sent home with me yet but I am doing a Protein shake 2 x day. I have read so much about head hunger and I am trying really hard to make sure that is not what is going on. I literally feel "empty" in my stomach. I just see where other people only eat a few bites and they feel full right away and I don't seem to be experiencing that, even with liquid.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
