I am 4 weeks out and so far haven't had any food that I was not allowed to have. Exercise on the other hand is a different story. I am supposed to be walking a minimum of 30 minutes a day for 5 days a week. Ummmmmmm I haven't been doing that. I am very hit and miss when it comes to exercise.

I don't necessarily know that I have cheated at all...I really believe that there are no off-limit foods but I have chosen to not eat sweets and any breads, I am kind of afraid of them though. I did actually have two bites of a samosa today and it was pretty darn good, just tried not to eat the bready edges! lol I really suck at exercise right now...I need warmer weather! ;)

Early on I had a bite of a donut. Now' date=' if I want a bite of a donut, I eat it. I've had Cookies and cake, I shared a Reeses PB Easter egg with my husband, I've eaten french fries (froed potato ANYTHING is my cryptonite since the sleeve)!! I am not a 'perfect' sleever, I know I could lose more and faster if I was stricter with what I eat, but I didn't do this surgery to live with a sense of deprivation and tons of cannots. I did this surgery to control the amount of food I consume. Granted, i eat TONS healthier now than I did before, I think a lot before I eat something 'bad', but I still ahven't had a soda, I've rolled about 2 drops around in my mouth since the surgery, but just the carbonation in my mouth doesn't feel good. I think that not depriving myself has been my key to success so far. I don't 'eat bad' everyday, or even every week, but if I want a Dorito, I'm doing more than licking that powder off![/quote']

I promise you, if I could have physically gotten away with chewing and swallowing it would have been a no holds barred Doritos fiesta! I can barely tolerate Water or Tea or Protein or anything! My sleeve is a picky a** B*#%h! I really hate to complain because I have lost a lot of weight so far and I have all this energy and Im ecstatic I did this, I just know Im not getting my nutrients in and it makes me nervous.

I ate a bite of a strawberry at 10 days out. I also focus on eating healthy eliminating all my trigger foods that are high in fat, sugar, and salt. I am a food addict

eh i'm still supposed to be on full liquids for 2 more weeks' date=' been on liquids for a total of 6 so far.... I'm currently eating blended potato Soup that has not been strained...so that's 2 strikes. should have just been the cream of the potato and not the potato and I didn't strain it. It's not all that lumpy and i chew the crap out of the lumps BECAUSE I CAN...i've missed chewing, give me a break.

oh and no no's....yeah I had a hershey's chocolate bar on 2 separate occasions...Yes the whole bar and while it took me a little to eat it, I suffered no real difficulties...I'm not even sure I'm remorseful. This diet has been hell, I see a bunch of people crab about the week long preop, I'd just like to say to them, "that's just the warm up!" but then I think or right, it's really just my dr that has us do 8 solid weeks of liquid diet post op. I have a bone to pick w/ my nut who had the balls to say to me that she gets no complaints on the liquid diet stage about the 8 weeks they keep us on it...[/quote']

I could never last 8 weeks. I bow done to you

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
