Sweet things get old,ie Protein Shakes. Wish I would have done some research into Protein options that aren't sweet. But I bought my shakes so I'm gonna drink em and like em.

hummm let me see.1. i didn't know my stomach would make loud noise "forever". 2. chronic Constipation and that is with treatment. 3. i miss eating. it feel like someone shot my best friend. i had surgery for medical reasons, and it has helped. honestly i didn't mind being fat. i guess i would mind being dead. good luck and get gas x.

I wish I had known to start taking 3 stool softener gel tablets per day from the time I got home from the hospital. They seem to really help with the Constipation but it took me a while to find that out.

Chapstick, FYI super hydrate before you go in. You may go 24 without sipping on anything, that means ice chips either. Have something to suck on to produce saliva.

What do you suggest to suck on? I didn't realize you couldn't have any Water or anything for 24 hours.

I have read these forums forever...and I wish I would have known that there is a possibility that you would feel flu like after surgery... I am 4 days post op and feel like crap!!! No pain where surgery was.. just freezing cold...no energy..and gas moving through me like a freight train...and it wont come out...also a freaking killer Migraine and stiff neck from the hospital bed.. :( not to complain or anything... lol

I'm sure you did the upper GI to prep you for the surgery - which i did of course. My advise if you have any ulcers or an infection that needs treatment and antibiotics get that done and healed up before surgery. I had both and dr went ahead with surgery - it's been three months of hell. After surgery taking pills isn't as easy as you think and most of them made me nauseous and vomitted around the clock.

Wish you the best :-)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
