4 days into pre op diet and feeling weak...

Recommended Posts

OP-

Everyone has a different preop diet. Your nutritionist should have given you a list of acceptable and permitted foods.

You are essentially starving. I'm almost done with my preop diet (surgery is Weds) and they tell everyone else Clear Liquids the day before but because I'm working a 12 hours shift the day before I get to have Protein Shakes as well.

If it were that easy to shrink a liver alcoholics who have fatty liver could just stop drinking for two weeks.

The real purpose is to reduce abdominal girth and put you at a lower BMI so the surgery is successful and get you used to not eating solid food since it is so critical in the early stages of the diet.

I don't looks at this as Breakfast lunch dinner etc I look at this as drink something all day so I don't fall over.

Try Tylenol for your headache and stick with the plan your doctor gave you.

I'm 4 days into my pre op diet (600-800 calories per day) and I've had a headache for 3 days and have been feeling lightheaded for 2 days. Is this normal? I'm making sure to drink plenty of Water so I don't get dehydrated but I feel like I'm about to pass out sometimes. Maybe I'm just hungry and want a nice juicy burger! Just kidding...or am I?!! [emoji6] Thank you for your help!!

It's completely normal. It's your body adjusting to withdrawing from carbs (and caffeine, if you were into that). I felt exactly the same way. You should be okay in a couple more days. The headaches were awful but the lightheaded feeling was scary. Several times I was worried about passing out at work, even when sitting down. I made my mom stay on the phone with me one night on my way home from work out of fear I was gonna pass out behind the wheel (she offered to come get me but I'm stubborn and insisted on driving).

I'll try the broth tonight. Congratulations on 47lbs down! Can't wait to hit that mark or any mark for that matter!!

I am down 16 lbs in eight days of pre-op diet. Got 7 more days to go. Just had a Premiere vanilla shake with sugar free Mangos and Pineapples. Wasn't bad. By the way my surgery is April 3. A week and a day away. Not sure if I'm doing this posting thing correctly, but I want everyone to know I wish you all success. My starting weight before the pre-op diet was 260 lbs, now I am 244, and may be less when it comes time for surgery. Excited and a little nervous, but need this surgery so I can get both of my knees replaced......probably end of next year, if I can't before.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
