Starting the process, and I'm really nervous

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I just discovered this forum today and it seems like it is a fantastic resource. The amount of information that is on here is staggering. Apologies if I've posted this into the wrong forum.

I've just started the process of this, I had my first meeting with the surgeon this week and I have booked all of the other appointments. I'm pretty nervous and I'm still on the fence about the whole thing. I'm a 33 year old dude, I'm about 6 ft tall and tip the scales at about 330. I'd love to get down to about 200-210. The surgeon seems to think that I'll be able to shed about 90-100lbs with the procedure. So that sounds great, but I still have some reservations about the procedure.

I have so many questions that I really don't know where to begin. I suppose the first question would be: If you had to do it over again, would you go through with the procedure again? Are the sacrifices and the complete and total life change worth it? How difficult has it been to make these changes? What about alcohol, can you still drink? What happens/if you drink beer? Another concern is the excess skin, are there things one can do to help prevent this from being too big of a problem?

Any advice, suggestions, etc.. would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for any and all feedback.

Welcome "dude" :)

This site is definitely a great place to get answers to all your questions!

Lets see if I can remember a couple and answer

1. Hell yes I would do it again

2. I don't feel that I've made to many sacrifices I just eat a lot less..

3. Saggy skin might happen don't know how I'll feel about it.

4. Sometimes I miss food (pigging out) but its a mind thing

5. Yes you can drink again but some doctors say you shouldn't

6. Beer ? Don't like the stuff and the bubbles might be hard early out

Hey buddy - if you click on my profile you will find a link to my YouTube channel where I've documented my 1st 7 weeks post-op. You and I are different ages but relatively the same size, so if you would like to see/hear about my successes, check it out!

I would ABSOLUTELY do this again and wish I could have done it years sooner!!

Hey guys, thank you for the replies. Kirk, I've watched three or four of your videos now and they are helping ease my mind a bit. I believe it was your first video, that you mentioned some of your reasons for going through with this and they're very similar to some of mine. Travelling, flying, also I am really eager to try the zip line and right now I am over the weight limit. Skydiving is also on the list. Thank you for posting your journey, I look forward to watching the rest of your videos.

Hey bro, just saying shoot for the stars! You have nothing to loose but weight! Go for it, a week of pain is worth a lifetime of health benefits. You only live once, and if your like me, well I have less than 2 weeks before I start my liquid diet, and I'm eating all I can! I'm ready for the change, to be healthy and feel good about myself.

If anything, be happy and go for it. I am scared of the surgery, but I'm telling you I am overjoyed of being approved and ready to go for it. Trust me, I know you have doubts and there's always the what if's. But ask yourself this, IF YOU CONTINUE TO EAT AND DRINK THE WAY YOU DO NOW, how long will you live? I'm 30, and I believe if I do it now and start a new lifestyle, how many years will be added to my life? I feel that if I don't, I will die of a heart attack or have a triple bypass before I'm 50.

And give this thought a piece of mind, WHAT WOULD YOU RATHER HAVE, A DOCTOR WORKING IN YOUR STOMACH OR YOUR HEART?

Take care bro, and let us know what you choose!

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
