White chicken chili puréed is quite good (mine isn't too spicy). My dr wants me to eat 1/4 c Protein 1/4 c fruit/veggie so I've had butternut parsnip soup' date=' white asparagus Soup, and various puréed fruits as well.[/quote']

I was the same way, everything was so blurry. I stopped my pain meds 3 days after surgery because I thought that's what was causing it. I think it was the pain med and anesthesia. It went away after a few days. My one pupil was dilated and the other one wasn't! No wonder they didn't want me to drive for at least a week. Lol.

riss523 -Malt o meal, watered down oatmeal, thinned out and strained cream Soup, yogurt, greek yogurt, pudding, Jello. That's all I got. I added a sprinkle of flavored crystal light powder to my greek yogurt and that was really good. I also made a soup this week that I was able to drink the broth. Not at all inventive, but I am going by what the dr told me. Plus all milk and pudding I had to nix after a rather unsettling, ahem, experience.

I hope there are some out there that had the experience I had. No pre-op liquid diet, very little pain, no drains, a little nausea in hosp., eating full liquid in the hospital and Dr said I could start purée as tolerated. It'll be 4 weeks on Tuesday, my birthday, and I started soft diet last week. So far tolerating everything. No problem with liquids and I like the GNC premade Protein Shakes. Basically I feel great. Lost 16 pounds, in a bit of a stall at week 3, but I'm staying positive and optimistic. Keep yourself busy, go out with friends who will be encouraging, and remember why you did this in the first place. I'm already off half my meds. :)

I had a great experience! I have not thrown up at all, had no pre op diet but was on liquids for 2 weeks following surgery and did have a drain pump...that's the only incision that has hurt at all! I'm 2 1/2 weeks out, had surgery on the 16th and am doing pretty good on puréed foods so far just have a hard time keeping the carbs under 30 but its all a learning experience and everyday get better...I'm down 21 lbs so that is definitely something to be proud of...go me!!!

Speaking of the drain pouch, how do they remove it. Do they just pull it out and what about the hole left afterwards? I cant wait for it to be removed.

Uncomfortable is the word my Dr used... Not exactly the word(s) I would use!

Definitely not the word I would use either I think the nurse who removed it has my handprint permanently indented in her arm

My 1st follow up appoint with the surgeon is tomorrow. I can't wait to see how much I have dropped. My wounds are healing and itch like crazy and the covering they put on them is peeling off. I am so ready for purée I am so tired of just liquids.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
