Geez... Welcome to VST!

Funny' date=' I just read an old post toady that talked about people asking old questions that had already been asked. Has it been asked and answered on this site before? Yes, probably a few times over. Does that mean she can't put herself out there and ask the question and get her toes wet? It is her very first post!!! You're going to have a lot of questions at a lot of different points along this journey. Some you'll search for and some you'll want to talk to people about. Don't let people discourage you from reaching out!!

With that said, I have heard of a lot of people who have had no pre-op diet and a lot of people who have had month long pre op diets!! But I'm with Kristen... I wouldn't ask too many questions about it (to your SURGEON she means) and just enjoy your lucky break!! ;)

And welcome to VST![/quote']

I believe SassySenior's response was to me, not to slimmingdani.

I didn't mean any disrespect to

Slimmingdani...I was just being light-hearted. I don't believe that being a part of this board, means you have to check your sense of humor at the log in screen, but hey that is just my opinion. ;)

Thanks Kristina for understanding where I was coming from. :)

Dang...I meant drea not slimmingdani. Sorry about the confusion.

You know at the end of the day, I really think people get way uptight on here over others trying to be friendly or funny. Why is it so easy for people to always assume the worst in one another?

Yeah, I didn't quite understand the first part, but I think that part was for you lol

I more meant the second part where she told her to just go look for the answers if she wants to survive this forum. Just thought that, especially for her very first post, she could have been a tad more forgiving! As a very active but still fairly new member, I felt a little defensive for her :)

Mine was a 10 day very low carb diet. Thankfully it wasn't just liquids! It was very specific, but I dropped 20 lbs! So that was a positive.

I hope your pre-op diet is easy and awesome!

Oh yeah, that's not bad!! I have no idea yet. I'm not scheduled until May 11th, so all I know so far is that, thank god, it's not a 10 week program!! ;) lol

We had no pre-op diet. By 'we', I mean those in my group at the obesity clinic. I was the only one to have the sleeve surgery. Everyone else went for the bypass. My only direction beforehand was to try and lose 10kilos before surgery time (about 5 months).

We were also directed differently than most for after the surgery.

Clear liquids while in-patient,

then 2-3 days of fluids (soup/puddings),

2-3 days soft/pureed,

then to regular (super-small portions) food by week 2

Good luck!!

It amazes me - all the different plans and ideas from the surgeons. I am 4 weeks out and still on soft/puréed! Crazy!

Did anyone else no have to do the 2 week diet?

SassySenior -"There are plenty of answers to your question ... just look!"

drea0324 "maybe" she was having a bad day

didn't mean to say anything disrespectful,

remember we can't "see" through the computer to know how someone is really speaking

I think Sassy Senior hadn't had her bran/fiber yet  - I don't "think" she meant to be rude

At 59, I "might" be classified as a senior citizen  so its ok for me to say that ;)

i try and eat my bran too daily while i'm sitting on the front porch in my rocking chair

back to question.........

my doc didn't put me on a pre-op diet

i kindof wish he (doc) had because i kindof went overboard with eating a few things prior to WLS - thinking i would never eat real food again

of course i could have put myself on liquids et al for a few days prior to surgery

i chose not too :(

it is a bonus to loose some weight prior to surgery - then you get a jump start on your weight loss

drea0325

please, please don't leave us :(

give us another chance :)

i can see B) what a smart NEWBIE you are - and your smiling face will be a great addition to our family :)

we are here to answer all questions from any/all sleevers

good luck with WLS

speedy recovery

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
